I do not agree that many of the teams are better than us. I look at the other leagues - Germany / Spain / Mexico / Brazil - their leagues seem so much better....really. Even Mexico which I watch on TV over here in the states. Many of the teams that we play are there for the taking if we think about using the players that we have with some sort of system / tactic - etc. I agree with much of what Danish said ...... we could play with more class. I used to hear Spurs fans having the same complaints about Harry - nothing has changed. He does not speak to the players. He puts the team sheet up just before the game. This is what led to the big Adel walk out earlier this year remember - he came to watch him apparently - which is rare - and then he was told to be in the dressing room - and then name was not even on the sub bench - can you imagine this happening at a professional football club? I think we do see some great individual performances and there is currently a great team spirit - BUT this alone won;t keep us up. We are about to play the top ten teams at home - how many more points do we expect at home. We have the bottom ten teams away - but go away expecting no points.... what if we get no more points this season because of no tactics?
I don't think Adel can be part of any discussion about the team as I feel he has excluded himself for whatever reason and quite clearly wants away. Harry's tactics away from home are bazaar to say the least, as I've said on other threads, and I certainly don't agree with them.
How we got promoted last year was a miracle considering the dribble we played all season and let's not forget that Derby murdered us for almost all of the play-off final. Our defence, although full of pensioners has fought bravely and Austin has done his very best. The problem IMO is our midfield setup and the players Harry selects. Playing Fer on the left when he's clearly a central player, playing Vargas on the right when he's clearly a forward. Not knowing where to play Mutch. Having BZ playing upfront when he clearly has very little mobility. Playing Barton as a DCM when he consistently gives the ball away. Our midfield IMO has been dysfunctional all year. Harry picks players and then comes up with some contraption of a system to fit them. How often have you seen 4 CM playing across the Middle. How often have you seen 4 CB playing across our defence. We all come on here to give our opinions. Mine is that Harry has consistently got it wrong. The good home results have saved his job. I still want him gone.
This. I think the squad, with a couple of additions, is good enough to keep us up under proper management. Sadly, proper management is what we are most lacking.
Nuts, we've had more than a few beers together and I value your opinions. Do you really think that all of our problems can be laid at Harry's feet?
Hoops, Im on Harry's side, but if not him then where do you suggest the blame lies. He's got to take avery large slice of the blame hasnt he ?
I notice Nutsy follows that with a tacit admission that he hasn't a clue where Mutch is supposed to play either
Fair question HE. In my job it's simple. A leader/manager is responsible for everything he does and dosent do. I know it's not 100% Harry fault but I do hold him entirely responsible for everything I see on the pitch. It's only my opinion but I think we are very disjointed. Players consistently playing out of position, no pace, not pressing high enough etc etc. I'm optimistic by nature but we can be very hard to watch. I don't think Harry would inspire a horse to water.
I only ask because there are many that dislike Harry because, well because he's Harry. There are also others that dislike Harry because of his tactics and I think you both fall into the latter category. I think Harry's tactics away from home have been abysmal, from Tottenham onwards we've been awful. Sat back and waited for the inevitable to happen, and regular as clockwork, it does. We've been getting away with it at home because Charlie has been exceptional but it won't happen every game as yesterday proved. Do I think Harry should go now? Yes I do, because we won't stay up with him at the helm. I'm not a great advocate of changing Managers but needs must.
I've got no dislike for him at all and after what he has acheived (promotion whilst stripping the team) he'll get my continued support. He wasnt to proud to ask for help from Maclaren & Hoddle.and has changed our play from the 3 centre back system. I just dont know if he's got it in him any ,ore. I believe he cars but im not sure he has the knowledge to keep up with the modern game and his transfer policy is pretty average. Only he could have got the likes of Caulker, Isla, Vargas and Fer but he doesnt seem to know what to do with them. As you said, our home form cant hold out all season so something has to change away from home. We should be playing the lesser teams away soon so we'll have to see if he's corect. Sadly its the Jan transfer window soon and i find myself doubting if I'd be willing to give him the cash to go and spend on what we need....rather than someone else.! Dont really want him to go but i can see the reasons why it may be for the best....Just dont think TF will do it. Far to much free publicity for Air Asia with HaR in charge.
Exactly this. I gave him every chance but have been very unimpressed by him. I really don't think he has the capacity to keep us up
At the end of the day it's not what we think it's what Tony/Amit think. Tony is a big admirer of Harry so I don't think he will sack him unless we are relegated.
