You would have been amazed if we, Bristol city who sit top of the league, beat lowly Gillingham who are struggling? Surely it's the other way around. We've lost 3 games this season, 2 of which we had a player sent off and both goals were scored late on. The other defeat to Preston was just unlucky, we had the better chances of the game and on another day we would have beat them 3 or 4-1. Have some faith RR, it's hard to believe but we are actually very hard to beat this season. Great call on Matt Smith 3 goals in 2 games. Didn't start his Bristol city career great but neither did Elliott, thought we might have learned to keep our mouths shut on players until they have played at least 8-10 games
I've discovered that when Red Robin speaks ****e, we come good bit like his half time comments last season regarding Baldock, who then scored twice. Like you said Shiny a few of us should judge players when fully fit which Cotterill and Smith both admit that Smith ain't fit yet. I've not been too impressed but time will hopefully prove me wrong as well.
Maybe as a team we've had the kick up the backside we needed, we are top at the moment don't forget but we obviously need to bring in some new faces to keep us strong, we also need to keep the faith in our team as fans. We've suffered the bad years, let's enjoy the good, we could be like those poor sods up north and be celebrating success in the Vanarama..
Great result and great use of the squad by Cotterill. The fresh legs and attitude of fringe players is brilliant. And fair play to my mate Wagstaff as well. Well done Matt Smith, Cotterill gets very little wrong.
Seems likely we will lose top spot next week when we play Doncaster. Tbh I actually hope we lose. FA cup is a distraction we don't need. Fair enough if we win and draw a big side but you know we won't we'll most probably be away to another league 1/championship side. Nope, would rather we exit the FA cup, focus on the league and getting to Wembley in the JPT, a competition we can actually win! Plus a good day out
Indeed, as any of us that were there would be able to tell you, we were NOT 'out of gas', or on a decline, or falling away, or struggling with our second string. We were magnificent to a man. Flint was huge in defence, Cunningham ran his legs off and produced some very good crosses, Luke Freeman is worth 2 players, Luke Ayling terrorised Gillingham in the firt half, and we should have gone in 4-0 up. JET infuriates, but just by lolloping around he draws 2 or even 3 other players to him, like bees to honey. We lost our way when we got complacent, but we pulled it back together again to take control of the game in the last 30 minutes Our tired, 2nd string is good enough in this league. Wait until we strengthen in the window. You must always believe.
He always does, and normally after as well. Trust me when things go bad, you wait for all the anti Cotterill threads to come.
I can't help but think these pointless negative posts have got to be damaging, imagine if Matt Smith reads this rubbish it's bound to affect his confidence, and its all negativity before the games, not even waiting till we have failed, it shows an alarming lack of understanding of football and man management, there were 2 teams who needed to win that game yesterday and we were the away side with an injury depleted side, so all in all a great win, but no thanks to some of our fans who take such pleasure in finding every negative the team can offer. Sometimes word fail me with the way we seem to need to kick ourselves in the bollocks. If our fans can't be happy at this moment in time the game just isn't for you, its too full of human error for such perfectionists.
I guess it's a new habit that we are still learning to be positive in our outlook after all of the very poor years just gone
Read the Gillingham fans views here, balanced, sensible and level headed fans, who are struggling big time? http://fansonline.net/gillingham/mb/view.php?id=237811
I find it hilarious they act as if we are buying this success. There is no one in our squad in my opinion that couldn't be in theirs barring Agard, in terms of financial reasons! I also have no idea where they got that Matt Smith still plays for Leeds or the wildly over inflated 2 million they claim he costs! The first time in years we are operating sensibly financially and NOT trying to buy success they make that as the excuse as to why they couldn't compete yesterday haha Very embarrassed for them! That was as uncompetitive as Pererborough was what I watched yesterday! Bloody cold, but bloody worth it! COYR
He was JET, we all know him, fairly innocuous but capable of a moment of sheer brilliance. Didn't see it yesterday, but he was tidy I guess. Not sure I agree with Cotterills "amazing" comment on him. Gillingham are where they are for a reason though and are definitely relegation fodder.
I didn't find myself being dissapointed in JET yesterday, he played fairly well and linked up fairly well with The team.
