Sunderland are hopeful of winning the race for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk. Gus Poyet wants a centre-back and Sunderland are willing to pay £8million for the Holland U21 international. Everton and West Bromwich Albion have also asked about the 23-year-old but he has told team-mates that Sunderland are showing the greater commitment to a deal.
Our fullbacks were diabolical today. We need PVA back and Rev on the right IMO. Anyway, my Barca mate just sent me a story from his local rag, Sunderland want Samper on loan. Real class young midfielder. Keys falling out of his pockets left right and centre
Very highly rated Sergi Samper, would be a bit of a coup by all accounts, he's at the B team I think which generally means he's within a season or 2 of first team. Managed to watch Bruma for Gala 3 times in last week, and he really would add an extra dimension to us like, he's so quick it's insane.

Sunderland in race for Chelsea forward December 27, 2014 please log in to view this image Sunderland are hoping to secure a loan deal for Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah, according to reports. The Egypt international has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Stamford Bridge since joining from FC Basel back in January, making just two substitute appearances in the Premier League. Due to his lack of game time the 22-year-old is now seeking an exit from Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho is not keen to lose the attacker on a permanent deal but would be happy to allow him to leave on loan. Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are interested but the Blues boss would prefer Salah to get some Premier League experience under his belt. Sunderland, managed by former Chelsea player Gus Poyet, is looking to add some more quality to his squad and sees the wide man as the perfect alternative to long- term target Fabio Borini, who is not keen on another switch to the Stadium of Light after a successful loan switch from Liverpool last term.

In regards to Borini - i'd be disappointed if we paid more than 6m for him it was a fair price in the summer and more than fair now
Liverpool offer misfit striker in exchange for Lazio's Ogenyi Onazi LIVERPOOL have offered Fabio Borini to Lazio in exchange for powerful midfielder Ogenyi Onazi.
I'd be disappointed if we gave him more than 6 seconds consideration! I just hope that when February turns up, he's not on our books!
Poyet has brought all championship players here Bridcutt, Rodwell, Coates, Jones who next ? Whitehead, Leadbitter hehe his record is worse than Bruce's. Pulis is available if we lose at Villa, and we better act now, I won't except another Hull performance, and will not renew next season. 45,000 turn up but the team did not. Borini top priority and two defenders, but no Dutch, French or Scottish prem players .
West Ham will listen to loan offers for striker Mauro Zarate, reports Neil Moxley in the Sunday People. The Argentinian has been touted around the Premier League with Sunderland and Newcastle alerted to his availability. Zarate, 27, began life at Upton Park with a bang, scoring for the Hammers in their win away at Crystal Palace. But he has since found goals – and a place in the Irons’ line-up – hard to come by. Zarate, who can count Lazio and Inter Milan among his former clubs, signed a three-year deal at West Ham in the summer. But the Hammers want to make room in their budget to improve boss Sam Allardyce’s squad. And Zarate has been offered on loan in a bid to get his wages covered until the end of the season.
Sunderland are hoping to seal a deal to sign former West Ham striker Marco Borriello during the January transfer window. The out-of-favour Roma forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Upton Park but endured a torrid spell during which he appeared just twice and failed to score. As talkSPORT told you last week, the 32-year-old returned to Roma during the summer but has not played for the club's first-team at all since. He is out of contract at the end of the season and available on a free transfer but now, according to reports in Italy, he is set to leave the Italian capital next month and return to the Premier League. Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is monitoring Borriello's situation and knows the experienced hitman could be available on the cheap, although the Wearsiders face competition from Cagliari. The Serie A side are managed by another man who has West Ham connections – former Hammers boss and Poyet's ex-Chelsea teammate Gianfranco Zola. The 48-year-old was appointed the manager of Cagliari earlier this month and it has been reported that a move for Borriello is high on his list of priorities.
SUNDERLAND: NO DEAL FOR BORINI Sky Sources understand that Sunderland are NOT interested in a January move for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini having lost patience with him in the summer. Borini was on loan at Sunderland last season and scored seven goals for the club, but an expected permanent transfer collapsed in the last window.
Insanely quick is exactly what's needed. Sala or Bruma sound good. I went to Barca v Ajax this season and Samper was on the bench so maybe nearer 1st team than u think. My mate compares him to Xavi. Go on then.
Wishing for Podolski or Campbell on loan from Arsenal. We have room for one more loan player, yes? Either player would add exactly what is missing.
Something should happen at Arsenal in January. Giroud healthy, Alexis prefers playing centrally, but is also adept out wide. Walcott close to his return. Welbeck clearly preferred to Campbell and Podolski. Podolski plays on the left well leaving Campbell, who prefers a central role as the most likely exit. We can all dream. If he is made available, I would imagine there will be more than a handful of clubs begging for his services.
