Seen a few tweets from different sources on Twitter this morning saying this, don't know if they're true or not? @whustuff: BREAKING: Mauro Zarate is off to QPR on loan. Deal is done — not in the squad for today's game. Remember where you heard it first.
Zárate started his career with Vélez Sarsfield in his native country, playing three years for the team and winning the Primera División title in the 2005 Clausura tournament. He later signed for Qatari side Al-Sadd in 2007, where he played only six months before transferring on loan to Birmingham Cityin England. However, after Birmingham's relegation, Zárate was loaned out again, this time to Lazio in Italy, where he won the Coppa Italia. His move to Lazio was then made permanent for a fee of around €20 million, with a €60 million[1] buy-out clause. After a loan at Internazionaleand a brief return to Vélez Sarsfield, he joined West Ham in 2014. In international football, Zárate scored the winning goal as the Argentina under-20 team won the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup final
I'd be delighted with this signing, did well in a **** Brum team, did well in a good Lazio side. My WH mate has said he's done well every time he's been used but Sam doesn't fancy him.
His goalscoring stats: Years, Team, Apps, (Goals) 2004–2007 Vélez Sársfield 99 (28) 2007–2009 Al-Sadd 6 (4) 2008 → Birmingham City (loan) 14 (4) 2008–2009 → Lazio (loan) 36 (13) 2009–2013 Lazio 68 (12) 2011–2012 → Internazionale (loan) 22 (2) 2013–2014 Vélez Sarsfield 29 (19) 2014– West Ham United 7 (2)
OK, but we're not in Argentina. And if you simply did an average calculation, if we took the 7x6 = 42 matches that means he scores 2x6 = 12 goals. Is that enough? Does he play nice with a strike partner or is he a poacher like Charlie? Wouldn't he disrupt Charlie's play, and the 12 he might get - is that taking away 6 or 7 from Charlie or in addition to? I know that's hypothetical, but still...... we don't play like the Argentinian league here.
I agree, I saw Zarate score against crystal palace at the beginning of this season looked like good player but hard to break into the west ham team when all their strikers have hit a purple patch this season. Would much rather get him on loan than Sanogo http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-west-ham-striker-set-for-qpr-medical
West Ham United forward Mauro Zarate will undergo a medical at Queens Park Rangers ahead of a loan move to Loftus Road, according to the London Evening Standard He may nearly be ours...would like to see him play on Sunday
