OK. I can't convince you, it is however hypothetical now, Penalties have been missed, or have turned a game around because the tactics have changed, who know where it would have gone, I am glad, that just for once we weren't on the receiving end and were good enough to upset the odds, I would have bitten your hand off if you told me we would get a draw before the game started. As for Spiders red, that is another contentious issue, he would have been unpopular if the move had resulted in defeat because he hadn't tried to prevent it, it was very nearly a perfect interception but his momentum carried him through, Referees got it right though. Spider would have been even more unpopular if Chelsea had made their numerical superiority count, they didn't, so technically he took one for the team which had the desired effect, I thought his first yellow was a bit soft too, but it was a combination of a few mistimed tackles which led to it.
If you decide " I am going to go down" then its a ****ing dive. Its a foul when someone brings you down. If you go down of your own volition, then its a dive, regardless of whether there was contact or not. I am not necessarily blaming the refs, because if there is contact, then it is hard to judge, but if you CAN stay on your feet but throw yourself to the ground, then its a dive, even if you are hit with a two footed, studs up, challenge. Its the ****ing players, they need telling!! Posted by a Chelsea fan on their board.
I thought it was necessary. Our players were knackered at that point and the break looked very dangerous. I was screaming foul him at the time. Not convinced in was a pen by the way. Yes there was plenty of contact but he was looking for it and already on his way down.
Problem with that is, you don't have to bring someone down to foul them but a referee is far more likely to give a foul if the player being fouled does go down.
So I'm sneaky because I chose not to confront you? **** me, I normally get moaned at for being confrontational! Can't win. I wasn't being sneaky, I was being nice and polite. I won't bother with that next time.
Bloody hell Don. The Arsenal one was a penalty all day. Reid lifted his leg up after he'd fallen over. It was nothing other than to stop Arsenals player.
I wonder sometimes about us. We've just watched our team pull off a fantastic effort to stop the likely champions elect from winning and we are arguing over a penalty decision which, let's be honest, would have us screaming blue murder if it had been against one of our players. Three games ago, the end of the world was round the corner. Now we've won two games easily and held off the best team in the league for a very credible draw. We have some people saying we werent that great and some people picking the arse out of a penalty decision. FFS let's enjoy the day and enjoy being 4th. There'll be another crisis just around the corner to worry about. Chill out, be happy and be bloody grateful you weren't on the wrong plane or car ferry these last two days. And FFS stop being perfectionists.
Yes, he brought his shin against Target's and that was his downfall...quite literally. It was a pen, but you also run the risk in the box, of quasi-simulation and embellishing a foul.
Let us take the philosophical view. Chelsea didn't get the penalty because they cried wolf once to often. From the very start of the match their players were going down as if pole axed when ever there was the slightest physical contact with the result that they were given several free kicks that were not warranted. So when they didn't get one that they deserved they had no sympathy from me whatsoever. José Mourinho can whinge all he likes but Fat Sam is absolutely right. Chelsea are a team of divers. I was disappointed by Chelsea. I felt they were a rather nasty little team of spoilers while I was really impressed by Man City a few weeks earlier. Of the two sides I hope Man City go on to win the League.
It is a shame that a terrific performance and point is being overshadowed by one contentious incident....there are contentious incidents in every game. Sometimes they are for you and sometimes they are agin you. We shouldn't get sucked in as well. Mourinho is trying to divert attention away from the fact that his team (however good individually some players looked) had one attempt on target against Southampton. We are a deserved 4th in the league because we play well as a team, defend well as a team and can also score goals. That fact should not be somehow hidden by a whinging manager.
I still think Fabregas made contact rather than it being a natural happening. He intentionally moved his leg to where contact would be made so it is a dive. Sick of hearing that contact = foul because it doesn't. If you change direction and walk into me as we walk through town who's fault is that and who says sorry? Chelsea dive. They dive all game. The ref got tired of it in the early in the second half and didn't give a free kick to Hazard when Wanyama clearly pulled him back on the left. Ivanovic looked like he needed emergency treatment for a paralysed back when he got a gentle nudge in his thigh in the first half. I thought the elusive sniper assasin had got Terry in the first half but the replay showed that Pelle's palm had caressed his cheek. **** 'em, they're diving cheats and Mourinho knows it which is why he is saying what he is to try and pressure them into giving the decisions his way. Fergie was a master at it, Mourinho is just as good.
If you change direction and walk into me as we walk through town who's fault is that and who says sorry? Both of you if you are British
Getting fed up of sky debating was it? Wasn't a pen?.... Shane Long got booted 6 feet in the air last week, but because it's us not a word. Godders is correct though if Chelsea players didn't go down so easily all the time they wouldn't have this label of being divers. Final point anyone think Mane was fouled just before Hazards goal? So should have been a free kick to us?
When the ball is kicked at someone's arm point blank, it isnt given as a penalty as there is nothing intentional. Targett did not try to take Fabregas down, he didnt even make a challenge. The only one who tried to take Fabregas down was Fabregas. That is what I saw and if that is a penalty by the rules, then the rules are stupid
Before we attack teams for being divers, can someone have a word with Mane as goes down to easily and far to often for my liking. Simulation (diving and cheating) is my personal biggest dislike in the modern game
