Are you high? He's been dreadful. I didn't knock him last season and he is perhaps a victim of the high standards we have come to expect of the squad, but he was just awful against Swansea and in his other appearances he has contributed nothing. I wouldn't knock a player if they were doing their bit, but Meyler has contributed a big bag of **** all this season and if he continues to do so, he will get nothing positive from me.

You were ****ing slating him before the season started. He's played the last four games and done ok in all of them, thats why he's held his place. A defensive midfielder isnt going to stand out and look great in a struggling team. His job, intercept, cut things out give it to the creative players. Good energy strong gets up and down.

    I think we'll go

    Pants..
    O'Shea----------Coates
    Vergini--------------------------------Jones
    Bridcutt
    Larsson Gomes
    Johnson--------------------Alvarez
    Fletcher

Catt's is likely to be rotated through this period. Poyet rested him against Arsenal because of Marriner so i think this is the game he'll be rested. Think Brown will be rested till Villa to deal with Bentake.

Defensive midfielder? I know he's tall and strong, but I wouldn't say he's a defensive midfielder and Bruce doesn't seem to think so too. He was on the wing the other week! He's not a winger either, but I don't think he has the attributes to be a defensive midfielder. He pulls out of a lot of tackles. In fact, I don't think we have a single defensive midfielder like Sunderland have with Bridcutt and Cattermole.

Meyler is a DM. If Bruce isn't giving him that role then it says more about Bruce than it does Meyler imo.

Yeah but he hasn't done ok, I've been at most of thebgames he's featured in and he looked distinctly below average, even with our whole team underperforming.

It's all well and good being able to cut passes out and tackle, but then if he just gives it away what's the point? He is probably capable of more, but face it, he's been gash this season. He has a chance to stake a claim in the first team and he isn't taking it. If he was decent enough, he'd still feature when the likes of Huddlestone, Livermore and Diame return. He just lacks the quality this season. I want him to do well for the sake of the team, but if he is the stand out poor player in a team that isn't playing well, doesn't that set alarm bells off in your head?

I like Meyler but this season he has been very poor in every game he's played and I actually thought he was the poorest player against Swansea, which is saying something because we were dreadful. Hope he proves me wrong tomorrow as he'll be starting with our lack of midfield cover at the moment and he might turn it on like he did against them last year.

Alex Bruce has sat in front of the centre halves before in a midfield type role - just saying.

Which was daft considering we had Olofinjana and Chester, both of whom are better suited to the position.

I'd stick to giving your opinion on goal keepers, clearly you know nowt about out field players.

Chester was lost in midfield and oli was the biggest tart going.

Played well enough to keep his place in the last four games so he is taking it. Meyers a good squad player, he'll never up his game to overtake Livermore hudd or diame. Ffs you're blming him for not being better than them!!!

    Alright lads,

    How you feeling about today?

I think we will win it but I'm not naive enough to think we'll canter it, there is quality in your team and at some point it will kick in for you.

How's ticket sales been, many coming up, it's bastard freezing by the way be prepared, I mean sweet ****ing Jesus it's cold, I'm not desi driver today so I'll be getting a nice Jack Daniels glow pre-match!

All the best after today, until the next one, and don't sack Bruce too soon, he usually goes about 30 in a rut then has a mini revival, sack him after that <ok>

See, with Long I feared you but without him, not so much.

    Good money, but strange sale.

Hence the expression "Too good to turn down"!
Hernandez has come nowhere near Long imo but there again, he's worth 2 million quid less! (smirk)

With the money we got for Long we could have bought two Altidores.

Please tell us he's starting today.
