Agree Drev, Cue card looks the option now. S Conti needs either further or plenty of rain. Not convinced Al Ferof stays well enough in this company. Champagne Fever has run his best races in the spring and this will only be a tester to see if he stays which i think he will have no issues with. Biggest danger i see is Dynaste who sees the 3miles well and seems to have a liking for Kempton. Saphir Du Rheu to win hard held.
Christmas Hurdle - Purple Bay 20/1 Hits a flat spot sometimes but should travel better if the ground is nice, should take this on route to Champion Hurdle glory and you are advised to take the 50/1 for that particular event. Storming bet in this and I do mean storming with a capital S. King George - Cue Card 10/1 already advised The only horse in the race with the class to trouble Conti in what looks the biggest two horse race of the decade, ill be amazed if he doesnt go off second fav and even more amazed if he doesnt give the forums favourite jockey the biggest win of his career outside handicap company. 125/1 to do the King George/Gold Cup double is also well worth a couple of quid, he might not stay in a horse box but if he wins this, 125/1 he wont be.
IMO noting will touch him till march and even then he will show what class of a horse he really is by beating what's his name "The So Called Unlucky One" sorry got confused The New One
Conti does not need soft ground he has won on spring good ground and won well! I still don't think he will win but he will come close, I have punted for Champagne Fever as I feel he will win if he can keep ruby on board but it wouldn't suprise me if Al Ferof ran a stormer especially if the ground is on the good side of soft will help his stamina worries and has the pace and jumping ability to win too! Cue Card won't win as he can't jump when put under pressure eg the Betfair chase and the same thing will happen again they will force the errors out of him at this level!
Must confess that this terms âKing George VI meetingâ is something of a damp squib, in my eyes, as for the first time since 2008 it wonât feature dear old Long Run (3 wins and a 2nd in that period). This year it will resemble strawberries without cream, fish without chips and an episode of âRichard and Judyâ without Judy. Looking at the entries for St Stephenâs Day the entries that take my eye are all trained by a chap called Henderson. Never heard of him myself but apparently heâs a good egg. I wonât bore everyone by how highly I rate COCKTAILS AT DAWN but, off 137, he stands out in the novice handicap at Kempers Park (1.25). Barbers Shopsâ little brother MAESTRO ROYAL should go very well in the bumper at Huntingdon (3.00). There really is no better bred horse in the whole of the NH sphere. Whilst in the card commencer at Winkers (12.30) TAYLOR, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, as usual, catches my eye. Although I do wonder if sheâll run in this novice heat as the alternative must be a handicap off her very lenient looking perch of 110. I await to see if these 3 are declared later. Anyone going to Newbury's meeting, next Monday, is in for a treat. Sprinter Sacre to work before racing. Get there early if you are going. The 'Black Aeroplane' will be led around the paddock at 11.30 and then canter a circuit and jump the fences in the home straight.

Geraghty riding Zip Top for John Ferguson in the opener at Kempton despite Mr Henderson running Bringithomeminty (terrible name for a gelding). Aforementioned Zip Top finished 2nd to none other than Camelot in the Racing Post Trophy for Jim Bolger before doing absolutely nowt for Godolphin in the desert.
Oddy, have you never heard me tell the story about why the 11th richest man in Wales named the horse Bringithomeminty. Bloodstock agent David ‘Minty’ Minton was discussing with the 11th richest man in Wales re the maximum they should bid for him when he came up for sale, ‘Should it be such and such, or maybe this amount’ said old boy Minton. The 11th richest man in Wales was uninterested by such talk and as he was so keen to acquire the son of Presenting hollered, ‘Whatever it takes just bring it home, Minty’. Hence the name, Bringithomeminty. Don’t fret about the jockey booking. Nico De Boinville (who sounds like a cross between a Bond villian and someone who’s Daddy owns half of Kensington and Chelsea) will be more than up to the job.
