Ab unbelievable decision - what ever next - ref's giving a goal to Reading when the ball hasn't even passed between the two goal posts - oh yes already done that haven't they!
Misapplications of the law can be appealed. So if he was sent off for handball and it did not strike his arm then that can be appealed. Judgement decisions, ie it hits the arm and ref judges it to be deliberate, then that can't be appealed.
Plus look where the "assistant" is positioned, he can clearly see the ball rolled onto his arm...week in and week out we get these decisions..
I've only seen the FLS, wear_yellow. I didn't realise contact with arm was made. This might be a case then when it is a judgement call on whether it was deliberate, and so not open to appeal.
The vine clip I posted earlier shows a lot more clearly what happened - he was tripped, accidentally or on purpose - and fell on top of the ball. I think the ref may have been swayed by the sudden movement of the ball away from GA, thinking that he had pushed it away - but he quite clearly headed it away. If the red card can be appealed, the club should go for it IMO.
second yellows can't be appealed but i gotta say, this was a fab match, especially at the end! lol Great result for us and a real display of team spirit. The ref was, as often, appalling...he was determined for Reading to win the game but our golden boys weren't having it...the Crystal Palace guy (Guadioura?) was fab! Gomes had a great game, and Abdi? Well, what can we say?! i hope we can have another game like that on Boxing Day, though hopefully not so nailbiting. Well done to our team, they played a blinder
The funny thing is I spoke to Gabbi after the game (as I usually do) and he did push the ball away because he didn't know what was behind him. Yet the video evidence is unclear. It's a strange one.
So if what you are saying is true, and I have no reason to doubt you, then he deserves the yellow card and 'took one for the team'. However I feel, and possibly will take up a controversial position here, he should have been aware where on the pitch it was and the fact that it wasn't really necessary to 'push the ball away' especially having only just received his first yellow, however poor that decision was in its own right. We are lucky it didn't (and he needs to say thanks to the other players for getting him out of jail), but his decision could have easily cost us the game.
Good points HHTFC - it looked accidental to me but if he seriously decided to risk us playing half a match away from home with only 10 men then that was a bad call. Whereabouts in Sussex are you by the way?
I have looked at the video numerous times and cannot even see a foul. He went down with the ball behind him, but it continued to roll and maybe hit his elbow. He then clearly used his head to push it away. If Reading had not missed the sitters that came their way we could have easily lost, and then I think there could have been some real moans about the decision.
