This is a fairer assessment than the title of the thread, in my opinion.

Neither team were clinical in front of goal, it could have been a goal fest had your players all taken their chances. The difference came when Johnson went close and Poyet realised he had the beating of the centre half.

Johnson was about to get hooked, Poyet quickly told the bench to cancel the sub and that paid dividends.

Sissoko was a beast for that 2nd half but he hurt himself and from then on, he sat deep, out of his comfort zone.

I'd say a draw was a fair result, over 90 minutes, but in the end, nerves prevailed and that's all it takes sometimes to make the difference.

    Nobody likes a spell-corrector somb, **** sake.

I have just been for Sushi and spotted at least 10 mistakes in their menu... 'Noddles' made me chuckle.

It wasn't just once, they wrote Noddles every time.

The title was semi-poetic licence tbh.

However, until Buckley came on we were starting to lose the game.

As soon as he started moving us quicker up the pitch I knew we'd get chances, Poyet obviously thought so.

Buckley was in the Sunderland area, clearing the ball to AJ, and then in the Newcastle area to lay on a goal he might have actually scored.

My point is that some people wrote the lad off after 1 game ........ as they did with Pants, Bridcutt, Vergini etc.

Pardew went desperate and his tactics went out of the window, I have no idea why he did that.

0-0 isn't a great result, but the toon army would have accepted it, and it would have done worlds of wonders for the young kid in nets, but Pardew chucked the kitchen sink in for the win and blew it big time.

Derby days in the Premiership are not the time or place for gambling, I guess it's just in that bloke's nature, to take the risk.

Newcastle effectively went down to 10 men when they fetched that midget striker on, another gamble from Pardew.

That mentality would have you sacked in weeks at another club.

I think Pardew must have read to many 'Roy of the Rovers' comics growing up; he seems to have some internal mythology where believes that throwing caution to the wind is a sound tactical approach, that an inexperienced Newcastle-supporting teenager was bound to create a fairytail headline and where, in previous games, an out of form Shola Ameobi really was a Sunderland-killer.

That said I would have taken a draw with 10 mins to go.

I'll hold my hands up Smug and admit I'm one of them who called him. Delighted obviously for him and us yesterday but still not convinced on him or Gomez.

    Yes, yes and more yes.

The quality of chances created meant we were comfortably the better team, it just does. We carved you open five times minimum. The chances you created were all half chances, except for Perez's one where he skinned Wes. Pants threw his cap on everything except two long range strikes, both requiring good saves.

You didn't really open us up at all.

An early storm (the best of which was Sissokhos weak shot straight at pants) and some good moments for Perez late on simply don't compare to the 5 absolutely glaring opportunities we made, not even counting hitting the bar and a free header 10yds out for Connor.

Possession was about even, but we let you have it, defended so well you couldn't get behind us and attacked with far more quality, be it on the break or with considered spells of pressure.

You're in the minority if you can't see this
