Flashpoint is deadly boring - you can walk about for ten minutes not seeing another player. Toby - you've really excelled in your love of big boabys with that comment - Battlefield no tactics yet you like CoD? Laughable - the whole appeal of Battlefield is the team tactics, points for assisting and tactical actions rather than the BANG SPLAT BANG DEID BANG pish of CoD. CoD is too cheap to develop a new engine and uses people's XBox's as servers meaning that games cancel, kick folk out and lag to the point of soldiers moonwalking in front of you. If any of you haven't tried Battlefield, try BF3 when it's out in the autumn and you'll bin your cheap, tiny map, wee boy's CoD
If you think there's no tactics in Cod then you haven't got any friends. Battlefags pretends there's tactics by spawning you close to what's happening, but it's just a mish-mash of random explosions and vehicles everywhere. The engine is ****e too, there's no realism in shooting and the guns are useless. You haven't played Black Ops
I have played Black Ops - I'm on the third or fourth prestige but I'm trading it in with LA Noire when FIFA 12 comes out You can choose tactical spawn points in Battlefield - either on your squad (not team) or at a base - CoD just spawns you wherever for some wee camper to snipe you or take you out with one of the ridiculous killstreak awards. They're different games and I won't deny that I enjoy playing CoD but it's throwaway. The DICE engine is in a different league to CoD - Entirely destructible environments, real-world physics (but there's no realism in shooting, apparently) You can't really play Battlefield on your own or with randoms - you need a coherent squad balancing different classes abilities in order to achieve anything. The single player storyline is the only part where CoD beats Battlefield games (cos the single player bit is tacked onto Battlefield, it's not the reason for playing it) and even then I'm re-thinking that, that's despite CoD's highly linear gameplay where you make it to a point, take out a set number of drones, make it to the next bit of cover blah blah blah. Actually, I take the last comment back - Battlefield story modes are still better than CoD as there's tactical involvement and many outcomes instead of the constant linear nature of CoD games. I feel like a Pro Evo person 10 years ago trying to convince FIFA players sooking on their mammy's jubblies (FIFA has, of course, since then become the better game) that they're playing a cheap convert from other EA games rather than a proper football game. Honestly, try Battlefield with a squad of four - it might take you a while to get into but you'll never regret it ...and you won't notice your mum's big sweaty swingers not being in your mouth anymore...
Trying playing Black Ops with a full team and you'll never want to play Battlefags And PES is still way better than FIFA, unless you're 12
PES is atrocious these days. I used to prefer it to FIFA, since PES 2008 its been awful though. PES hasn't handled the switch from Ps2 to Ps3 well at all IMO.
^^This. Basically, the first couple of versions of ISS (as I still call it) for Xbox 360 and PS3 were 2nd gen converts to 3rd gen consoles. FIFA stole the defending mechanics and upgraded the engine sufficiently (and used dedicated servers to improve online play - CoD fannies) and is now, somewhat regrettably, the better game
FIFA is too easy, it still depends on getting one of the star players and running/shooting with no challenge. PES has its flaws, they never fixed the menus and the defending AI does get on my tits, but it involves a lot more skill when it comes to passing/shooting, and they fixed the quality gaps between teams, so you now stand a chance of beating a team that's better than yours. PES all day, all FIFA has is the graphics and menus.
I use to play PES but FIFA09 was quality and PES 09 was ****e and since there the gap has just got wider.
with tactical insertions but, if these get used in an effective place, they get taken out pretty easily. However, point taken, you can choose spawn points in Black Ops - I still prefer the squad system in BF
Think there's a few people I'll add to beat on FIFA11 and Rauul was spot on with his FIFA/PES comment.
CoD is for spotty nosed little kids and Battlefield's for the older community. People who bitch about BF are the ones who suck at playing a team based game and get constantly ****ed up by someone in a tank/heli and then send them a message calling you a tank/heli whore. If you can't deal with vehicles or just want to play old fashioned and ultimately boring deathmatch then you are better off playing CoD. To be honest, we don't want the ****in' CoD boys over on BF anyway.
