You have a point Dick but as we have learned to our cost in the past, the bottom line for any football club is what is in the shop window (the team), not downstairs in the stock room. I am shocked at how quickly the wheels are falling off. The team looks absolutely ****ed.

So basically that's 2 pages to say: Since planning approval, obtained by a planning team who were obviously too effective, we've sacked them, got in a cheaper lot, and done nothing except tinker sufficiently to necessitate getting fresh planning approval. We are, in essence, further back than we were a few months ago. Too cynical?

How can you make that judgement, when you don't know the full facts? It is just guesswork and not very helpful. There was me thinking that fans would be excited by what is going to happen at Sparrows Lane. How wrong can you be?

Someone help me out on this but didn't Slater and Jimi show more interest in our yoof development than what Roly Frankenstein has?

In a short answer, no they didn't.The mantra coming out of the Club from Katrien and Roland is investment in the Youth. It is a good strategy, in theory, you produce all these young players , they get into the first team on a lower salary. Then you sell them to a Prem club for a large amount of money. The downside is that when they get into the first team and perform badly, Al la Fox, Pope, Pigott, etc. nobody will buy them for decent money. The jewel in the crown is Joe Gomez and I can see him being sold in the near future.

You have a short memory. Two and a half seasons ago we ended with 82 League goals, not too shabby. Powell was more than happy to attack if the owners provided him with decent strikers, as they did with BWP and Kermorgant. He often played with these two strikers and two wingers, which is an unusually attacking formation in the modern game.

Impossible to judge with Bob. You have to play to your strengths. Until recently we have had a very solid defence, despite the ball keep coming back at them because we have no-one to hold on to it further upfield, and a hopeless attack (no fault of Vetokele). Who knows, if RD bought Bob a couple of decent strikers he might be more than happy to attack a lot more. He would have to get rid of Buyens, though, who passes sideways and backwards more often than Ray ("the Crab") Wilkins in his latter career.

It is guesswork, and I'm not saying that's the way it is, but it's one way of interpreting what's written. Still depressed after that debacle on Saturday, DP, apologies for it, and thank you for taking the time to write the summary... but it does seem like we're being taken for mugs with the on-field activities, and worried that's reflected equally in the off-field stuff.

But the above are Slater's protégées not Frankenstein's. I really don't see Roly as a long term fixture at cafc, the thought that Roly would allow a success to come thru his team that he could not take credit for does not sit with the character of the man or the philosophy of his 'network'.

I genuinely feel the yoof team structure is in a critical condition. If you network senior players - then why not network junior ones?
