The wheels are not coming off, however, we do need a new striker. Wilbs was brought in to dovetail with Sammy B, but has ended up the main striker and to be fair he already has more goals than I suspect most of us (certainly me)thought he would come May. Agard (from what little I've seen) and read is not cutting the mustard when required. We have no other real options up front, Burns is out on loan, not sure Smith is the answer either. The early part of the season the goals were also being spread around the team, this appears to have dried up over the last month for some reason. Maybe time to give JET a run up front over the festive period to see if he can still produce and if he does then it's decision time on wether we sell or keep him. Whatever SC and SL decide we NEED another/better option up front than we have currently.

Agard came with a good reputation and whilst he has scored some vital goals, he is not half as prolific as I was hoping for.

Smith is only a short term deal (at the moment) but we need some new faces to freshen things up and provide some competition. After all the good results and hard work up until now, we can't just let it slip away and we have 3 other teams seriously breathing down our necks and don't discount Sheff Utd yet either

If we continue with the same games to points ratio of 2.

    Should be enough.

But recent form has been unerving

strip out the cup games and we have lost 3 of our last 5 games- 6 Points from 18 is not top of the table form-Just because we have been top, doesn't give us any right to anything- You go up by playing well and getting more points than your rivals.

It happens, but having Crewe away and Yeovil at home is a great opportunity to get 6 points. We missed out on Saturday and now need to go on a run again.

Sorry, but Smith isn't the answer and I don't think JET is either. I can see us slipping to 4th place before making some kind of recovery

Strip out the cup games and we've lost of 3 out of 21 games, which is top of the table form, because wait for it, we are top of the table :)

Why are you only pickling the last 5 games to spread the doom, why not 6,7,8,21,30? :)

We just need a good win against Yeovil and all will be good again.

Picked those because that is the reality- Yes, we have done bloody well and are top, but that's all in the past and we are only top by 1 point. To stay there we have do at least as well as our closest rivals. The thread is about a lack of goals, which has been a feature amongst our most recent form.

Wasn't spreading any doom and I take no pleasure from it, but that is the reality at present. I do go on to say that I think we will recover from it. These things do happen.

Yeah I know  but you could also say we've won 2 of the last 3, which is promotion form and also form which is keeping track with our closest rivals. Lets go with a cliche and say that the important game is the next one and not the ones that have gone before :bandit:. The lack of goals is a worry however I'm not too concerned...yet... because at the moment we are still creating the chances so hopefully Wilbs and the gang will start converting them at some point, when the chances dry up as well then I will put my worry cap on :police:

I agree, as long as we are creating chances, goals will come. We are starting to meet teams that are content to defend deep and play hoofball which is understandable, but that's why league 1 is hard to get out of, not everyone wants or is able to play passing football with you.

I am sure that the goals will come again, I guess that as a long standing supporter, we have seen signs before and it is easy to become paranoid, but after such a great start, we probably do need a plan B as well.

Funny you should start this thread, because for a few weeks I have been thinking that an investment in the January window for a proven goalscorer would be money well spent.
I am sure Cotts is thinking along these lines, and I would not be surprised if SL backed him up with hard cash this time. Cotts has proven himself, and another tool in the box could well push us over the line.

I agree the wheels are not coming off, and I think whatever happens we will be in the mix come the end.
It would be nice however, if we have promotion in the bag by Easter. I'm sure we would all like to avoid our 'day out at Wembley'.

And 3 points at Gillingham and at home to Notts County....

Not even fussed about the cup games at Donny and Gillingham. I only care about promotion, anything else is a bonus

Think these games could get it the way of the main objective right now. I would sooner have 3 points in the league against Gillingham than a cup win

The facts guys we need to start scoring goals or we are going to start slipping down the league.

Wilbs has been brilliant but he is missing sitters,Agard had gone of the boil.
Who do we have to fill their places, the facts are no one.
Jet is history,Burns aint good enough,Smith aint fit and is a provider of goals.

I thought you were away for Crawley? We were not lucky against Crawley in fact if we hadn't had won I would have classed it as being unlucky but I give you lucky about Telford but who cares about the cups :)
