Came on, ran at Newcastle, made the two great chances for Johnson & Larsson & defended to the last whistle. He could've slashed at the ball, as Wickham & Gomez had done earlier, but set it up for AJ under great pressure. Deserves a bit better than the Bucktooth jibes he gets and the claims that he's s**te. He's still settling in but deserves the chance to improve. That's all I have to say, except ........ f**ing great day out on Tyneside yesterday! The daft gets were holding up 5-1's as we walked out of TOON
I agree! The lay off for Johnson was absolutely spot on! For him to try it under them circumstances was suprising for me, for him to perfect it was shocking!!!! He did it with the sort of confidence and calmness the player of his quality would only do on the training ground! Well done him!
Good morning ...What a performance...What a result..We were the better team by far and I don't think that even the most biased Mag would argue that justice was done in the end..
Overall, I think the whole team were outstanding, Buckley's lay off and AJ's finish were top drawer and a fantastic performance by the whole team. Gomez could have had two and should have definitely converted his first chance, Fletcher was very unlucky to hit the bar and Wickham should have scored with that header. Overall I'm chuffed we created that many chances and if we continue that form, Hull might just get a pasting on Boxing Day. Anyone know any hangover cures?
Well said Smug, the same is true for Briddo, for what these two lads cost they are real value for money, and we are lucky to have them.
Sorry mate, that's utter ****e. A draw would have been a fair result, yes you scored and that's what counts, no way we're you the better team. I haven't seen, but what were the stats? I would have thought about 60% possession and more shots, and more shots on target than you.
Possession was around 50/50, and all the clear cut chances went our way..Another 0-3 scoreline wouldn't have been out of place in my opinion..
Judging by the highlights that I've seen and the general feeling from both sets of supporters it seems that it was a close game and a draw would have generated few complaints! However as we were the away team, if any team deserved the win, it was us!!!
Morning Somb. I agree with you entirely. The team that scores most usually wins. With apols for the appalling smugness...
As the home side the onus was on Newcastle to be the better side. Your defence wasn't better, Sunderland carved you open and missed 3 virtual open goals. Your game plan wasn't better because your manager panicked & took off Tiote leaving Sissoko looking lost. His goal threat subsided and he was left isolated against Johnson for the goal. The only 'plan' was to throw more & more attackers on. Poyet bided his time until you clocked up bookings, lost shape and ran out of steam. He put on Buckley and waited for you to lose the ball and leave yourselves open at the back. That's tactics & tactical substitutions which is part of the game, not just going gung-ho and taking huge risks.
15 shots to our 16 Somb, with 7 on target against our 3, but surely you can't call Perez's and Sissoko's first half feeble attempts shots on target, Pants could have hoyed his hat on them. I am sure he could have lit a tab up when he was waiting for them to reach him.
The 3 quick in succession yellows had a massive impact on the mags. They took all the bite out of their game, let us get on the front foot and we didn't look back after that.
som you were lucky not to be down to 9 men by 30mins. then 8 by 60mins as colback should of also seen red. consistent referee and it could of been a cricket score. merry christmas.
Strictly speaking, it's afternoon, unless there is some difference between here and Surrey. You've every right to be smug I suppose. Not that I would be if the shoe was on the other foot, you understand.
