There's no positives to bringing Torres back. A more calculated risk would be Konoplyanka, Jackson Martinez or even putting a cheeky bid in for Benteke. Any one of those are realistic alternatives...think a couple out of contract in the summer but not sure.
All three of them would cost money, that's the whole point of this conversation. Neither Bow or I are saying go all out for Torres, we're saying if we have no money and El Nino is the only option then why not?
I know we can't defend for **** but at least our defenders don't do this... please log in to view this image ...
Not a significant amount though? Just checked Konoplyanka is out of contract in the summer. Don't know about the other two.
I read the post about the 3.2m cost. There's a lot of 'if' and 'maybes' in your post there and dare I say wishful thinking. The trouble is his knees are gone, he is finished. Putting sentiment to one side, if it's about looking at a cheaper option, a better risk would be David Villa on loan.
If we're talking free agents then signing a world class goalkeeper that is currently training with Man Utd would go a lot further to improving our fortunes over the coming seasons than signing a striker who has lost his hunger and can't score goals to solve our attacking problems.
And that goes round to my point again by saying its subjective, as is your opinion, and also the fact that it is low risk.
Victor Valdes People doubt him but he has over 500 appearances for Barcelona and has won numerous trophies. He could bring experience to the dressing room and to the back line plus his fantastic shot stopping and passing would help us with possession and the conceding of goals. Just a no brainer for me.
Completely agree. He is miles better than what we have. Always thought he was quality - you don't stay at a top club that long without being good enough.
Agree to disagree with you on this one. Some things are subjective, but everything points to the fact he's finished. Mate it would be Joe Cole all over again. Agree about Victor Valdes. I stay clear of trying to correct people about him. He proved himself to be a bloody keeper at Barca.
Again that's a subjective opinion - its not a fact he's finished/will fail It could well be another Joe Cole though, that is true.
I had to take a shower after that game, **** me sideways. Went from we are bossing, need to get three points to being thankful for the return of pirate Skrtel.
