I know we all see games through different eyes but the feeds were all saying what a good game Pantilimon was having. He also got a rare double bonus for saves in the Premier League fantasy game for his 7 clear saves, and was awarded 2 bonus points for being the 2nd most important player on the pitch statistically. He can't have had all that and not had a pretty decent game.

No doubt our shooting was poor. Perez had 3 excellent chances and Sissoko should have done better with his first half. All a bit scuffed. The save towards the end from Perez looked good from my angle. Also think Sissoko's would have dipped in. More so his positioning and general command of his area was excellent. Good keeper.

This is the way I saw it. But as we're Newcastle fans we must be wrong. Draw would have been a fair score line, as both teams had chances. We've won games like that this season against Leicester and Liverpool in particular.

    It's three points dropped.
We now move on and hope Mike digs deep.

A draw would have been a fair scoreline we'd scored the same amount of goals. Simple as that.

Seem to remember when we had lucky Derbies, all I heard was you were unlucky and what an injustice it was. We had plenty of lucky results against you in the 00's.

    Evening all.
A mad old day on a few levels but now finally putting my feet up.
Gutted to have lost today but did we deserve a win... nope.
Chances in a derby are few and far between and you have to bury them.
The difference was... SAFC did take their chances.
The highlight off the pitch was the behaviour of both sets of fans (a mate in the police said it was one of the best behaved in ages) and on the pitch... the light that is Perez.
Apart from that, nothing stood out for me.
We dust ourselves off and move on.
I for one hope we strengthen in the January window as we really do need a quality striker and a commanding CB.

Said it and got in a bit of an argument with a Sunderland fan about it, a draw would have been a fair result. Perez was unlucky.
Don't think we'll bring much in January, need 3 players if we want to be top 10 or push on from that.
Also thought the atmosphere was better and the way it was policed seemed much better to me, with coppers saying hello and checking that people were alright.

The number of chances were maybe even but the quality of the chances were heavily in Sunderlands favour, should have been a red when Colo targeted Fletchers back injury with his Knee, going in from behind with his knee at that height cannot be excused

Well I am sorry to admit that I enjoyed my day out - although the 90th minute goal sort of took the shine off it. When you can only get to one or two games a year you have to just make the most of it. Thought the atmosphere was great and we started off great. Sunderland I thought though shaded the first half after a shaky opening. Second half was more even and Pantilimon did make a couple of excellent stops. Thought Perez was outstanding again. His speed over a few metres is just so quick - the number of times he wins ball hes shouldn't is amazing. We looked very unbalanced in the last 20 minutes though. While Tiote wasn't having a great game, taking him off left us without a holding midfielder and left us vulnerable on the counter attack. I guess its hard to blame Pardew as he was certainly going for it then. We probably would have been criticising him if he hadn't made attacking substitutions but I think taking off Tiote (and not Ameobi until the very end) was a big factor in the defeat.
