Thought we would lose before the game, but im disappointed now that we didnt win. We are piss poor for points, but we are now playing better and creating more so things seem to be heading in the right direction. We have an easier run over christmas and hopefully will accumulate some points. Suso may be in for the next game and is going to kick some ass. Fair play to Skrtel for getting the result at the end
Nit harsh blaming Gerrard for either of them IMO. There were plenty and things happen after both goals to make them avoidable
The hollywood ball was a mistake but to be fair we had plenty of opportunity to recover and the center backs should have sorted out one of them picking up Giroud. So as much as I agree that it started with Gerrard the center backs were the real culprits imo.
Yet if he had 1, not given a free and 2 not gave a stupid useless long ball right to arsenal, those two goals would not have happened It was that neither was nessessary, that's why they were such bad mistakes
He hasn't been sacked after serving up some crap over the season so I don't see him going when he gets it right.
sterling is one of the fast imports that keep england from falling to scotlands level, but hes not going to win us the league
Some talking points. 1. That wasn't some plucky comeback. We gifted them two goals (the second was well crafted to be fair). We drew this game against ourselves, Arsenal barely turned up. I honestly felt like we were playing ourselves, none of the focus of the match was on Arsenal. 2. Sterling was anonymous for large parts of the game. Needs to stop making stupid decisions regarding shooting vs. passing as well. 3. Markovic should be starting, had a great game. Stupidly taken off. 4. Skrtel and Kolo should be taken out back and shot out of mercy. Thanks for the goal but your poor marking lead to the first goal and Kolo's hesitance saw him slow down as the ball was passing him by for the second. 5. Sakho was the only decent defender we had. 6. Borini showed more passion in 15 minutes than Johnson has since he arrived 5 years ago. His red was deserved, but it didn't cost us. If we forgave Markovic for the same thing (red due to exuberance) then we should be willing to do the same for him. Shame he'll probably never play for the club again. 7. Lallana is full of neat tricks but 99% of them don't result in anything. 8. Gerrard's passing/shooting ability has dropped off the face of the earth faster than a Malaysian airliner. 9. If Coutinho scores once in a game, he should be banned from shooting for the rest of it. It's not going to happen twice. 10. Brad Jones has conceded 6 goals in his 3 games so far. While a few have been defensive errors, he's not really any better than Mignolet. 11. Lucas was poor today. Too sloppy and slow.
I can understand that tbf but I still reckon a proper CF was needed, especially after last week. Lallana was unnecessary, did nothing imo. That first half I thought Markovic was head and shoulders above anyone else going forward, but everytime you got to the final third, despite having options to the right or left, Coutinho/Lallana/Sterling all paused or took an extra touch or played it to the wrong man when there were better options available. That partly was their fault but also the fact there was no striker.
I thought he was essential, breaking up the play and keeping us on the attack, he certainly needs to keep playing so that he's completely match fit.
