I will keep having arguments so long as I have complete and utter twats like you on my back. Keep it civil, and I will too. Start acting like a cnut and I will treat you like one. That is the long and short of it.
If that's your thinking that it proves that even our fans see us as a selling club. The fact is, that Arsenal don't want to sell Fabregas, and the conflict that is being caused between their desire to hold on to him and the player's desire to leave is slowly bringing the club to its knees. But, perhaps you are right, our attitude - as a selling club - would be different. If that is the case, then it saddens me, because I actually want our club to look to achieve things.
I'm not saying that we should buy players on the cheap, train them up, then sell them on for profit all the time - Like a player development centre. However, if the opportunity arises to buy a promising young player from one of the best teams in the world for a moderately cheap price, we shouldn't be put off by the possibility that Barca might want to buy them back after 8 years of service to our club. No player is irreplacable. Not even fabregas for Arsenal. Sometimes, selling a key player for a tremendous sum can strangthen the team as a whole.
There's a big difference between being a 'selling club' and one that lets a player go once his head has been turned and he causes unrest in the dressing room. Fair play to the goons for trying to hold onto Fibreglass for as long as they have - but has it been of any real benefit to the team? I'm not so sure. Berbatoss had his head turned and became the incredible sulk - we got rid. I'd prefer to look at that as sensible rather than the 'selling club' tag. But that's just my opinion
You have to remember that Barca feel that they have to limit their price for Fabregas because of the way that Arsenal signed him in the first place. They might not have acted like they have with another player. I can't remember them doing it.
Great point and a lot of peopleespecially Arsenal fans seem to forget that Fabregas was a Barcelona player before Arsenal took advantage of a rule that prevents Spanish clubs signing young players on professional contracts.
They also followed it up by poaching Merida CH, but he was forced to pay compensation to Barca, if I remember correctly. I think Liverpool nicked someone from them, too.
Last time Barca had to stump up 50 mill for Fab, he'd not long signed a contract, its the only time a club will get top money for a player. There's no such thing as a selling club, Mr. Bosman has seen to it that players have ultimate power now. The longer the contract runs, the less the club are able to sell for. The price for him now is 30/35. if the Goons won't agree, they'll come again next time with 20 /25, not a good price for a top4 clubs best player, or risk a transfer request...win/win for the player. At your age WHL, I'm amazed you appear to not know this, if you did, you wouldn't have any of the concerns your voicing.
