We need to adapt to teams parking the bus which they are going to do. We need to be more adventurous as we win by our attack not our defense.
I'm not sure that SC is being very gracious here......... We lost a game that on paper we should have won in second gear. I hope this is a timely reminder to the players that we need 6 points from the next 2 games. There will be no excuses for not beating Yeovil or Gillingham Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill is adamant that his team "battered" Crewe Alexandra, despite losing 1-0 against the League One bottom side. Derrick Williams was sent off for the Robins before Jamie Ness condemned the leaders to defeat at Gresty Road. However, Cotterill has insisted that his team deserved to beat the Railwaymen, but admitted that Williams deserved his red card. He told reporters: "We battered them. We were the better side with ten men. They couldn't live with us. "They've got out of jail today. They didn't deserve anything. The referee had a poor game. It's been spoilt as a spectacle. "Derrick deserved to be sent off. He was stupid to go to ground. He'll be fined for that."
It's very common for the bottom side to beat the top. It happens in every league every year. We are top of the table, the wheels haven't come off, we're having our best season for the best part of 60 years. Lose a game and people panic.... In my humble opinion Its not about panicing sc has been saying for a lil while now That were not taking our chances if even thou were creating plenty including the games we Ended up winning an all thats my concern were shy of an out and out goalscorer which with out will be costly.......
It depends on how long SC is prepared to watch us create and waste chances I guess. Signing someone like Doyle might be the best thing for Agard to put some pressure on him for his place.
City, Swindon, PNE and Rochdale have all lost three in the last ten games whereas MK are undefeated in the last ten. Sheff U have lost two in ten. The main difference is that Swindon, MK, PNE have all won six but we have won five. Thus we have now only one point margin. Don't panic.
Personally i don't see the free flowing, free scoring team of a month ago. Peterborough anybody. We look tired,we look like a team that finds it hard to score,we seem to run out of ideas when trying to break down sides who park the bus. We are being stifled by the opposition ,we need to find a way of breaking these sides down. When the pitches start to get boggey, the players will become strained, then injurys kick in,then we will have second string players playing. The players at his disposel are not going to keeping us top of the table in my opinion. Those avaliable are not good enough,he needs some real quality in the window to push us on.
If I supported another team I'd think cotterill is an arrogant prick, but I don't and on this occasion he's spot on about the Crewe player who should of been sent off. However looking at the stats we didn't dominate but we definitely done more than they did even with 10 men. The ref was a complete homer sadly.
I don't think that is the case at all I reckon we created similar amount of chances in the Crawley and Crewe games as we did at Peterborough, we just haven't taken them! Which is a concern but the performances have been ok. And I don't think Cotts is being ungracious we did batter them
SC should realise we lost, goals win games, they scored we did not,the facts are we have to beat sides at the bottom of the table. If we are going to get promotion, all games this month should have been maximum points. He seems very sour when we loose, but don't blame ballboys, referees, etc. The fact is you have the best first eleven in the division, they are the ones that need to win the game, along with your guidance.
Was not there yesterday,we may have had more possession,we may have had chances, but they scored, and we did not. That has to be sorted and quickly. We had a eight point gap,now we have three sides one point behind us. That tells me they are doing better than us at present, the deciding factor is what SL and SC can do about it,follow on in the same manner, all three sides will overtake us and leave us with a play-off space at best. January is going to be massive,in which way the club goes for the remainder of the season. We need reinforcements that are on top of their game, not players that need match fitness, and games to get back to where they should be. We need players that can do the business straight away.
Things like this DO happen in football - the season we got relegated from the Championship we beat Cardiff and Palace who got promoted (also drew twice with Hull who also went up) To remind all - WE ARE TOP Yes one or two additions in January but we are still a good team and watching them play is hugely entertaining - just enjoy the ride
I said some time ago on this site that I did not feel we were anywhere near the complete deal and yet we were able to stay at the top but now all the signs of my comments are showing up on the pitch. We must stay positive and believe in SC to fully understand our shortcomings and with the transfer window just around the corner let's hope he can bring in some more reinforcements to plug up the leaks before we sink. I really don't think we are in any kind of desperate situation but we know from our recent past that things can go wrong very quickly if the issues are not addressed and solved. Do you think that players will be leaving in January, especially JET whose best before date has long since expired, to be replaced by proven goal scorers who can address what I see as our most serious issue and that is lack of goals? Looking back over the last few weeks we have failed to win any of our games against the teams that must be considered as our promotion rivals and then we lose to the team that is dead last and none of that can be considered to be very positive in the overall plan. Yet here we are still topping the division despite all our shortcomings and with some minor tweaks here and there we can probably consolidate the good start to the season. An interesting time of the season is now upon us and let's hope for a rousing start to the Christmas/New Year campaign with a rousing win over Gary and the boys from Yeovil. You know you want it.
Nobody would of predicted Newcastle beating Chelsea or Sunderland holding them to 0-0. These things happen it's football that's why we all love it, it's unpredictable. Me for one never predicted we would win this league and would probably be in the playoff places. But asked in August would I like to be one point clear going into Christmas would I take it, I would of snapped their arm off. All four of us MKD PNE Swindle will go through more losses this season, but we will come out of this sticky patch. It's seems to of been years that we've got to Christmas with a possitive goal difference let alone top.
Spot on ROD and let's hope we can return to a better performance level soon and make our promotion push just that bit stronger.
I quite agree with you, but we now need to consolidate our position and ensure we get (or buy) automatic promotion and avoid the lottery of the play offs. Lets hope the lesson of 2008 has been learned
I like your comment,as long as SL and SC have done there homework we will be fine,if not sqeakey bum time
60 years Shiny ? We got to the top table and stayed there for a time in the 70s, and we missed the Prem by one place in 2008
