I will try to find out. I actually think City and Chelsea may not be in that list. It could be somebody like Fulham, Villa or Birmingham
Fulham and Villa have both had spells in the 3rd tier and Fulham have been in the 4th Division about 20 years ago! We know Man City were in the 3rd Division back in the late 90s as for Chelsea I'm not sure!
I remember when Carlisle played in the top league and I think Northampton have as well, I'm sure Welly will correct me on that!
Great performance - probably my favourite of the season. We showed an 'urgency' to attack that I don't remember from any MM era team. The players that normally make me swear (Tabb, Anderson, Skuse) all played well and the first two especially made a large and telling contribution. The ref made some strange and poor decisions but that just adds to the excitement of the afternoon. I don't actually thing I have used the word excitement in connection with a Town performance for a few years now! The aspectsof our play that made me reserved about MM are beginning to disappear. At last its seems fun to be a Town fan!
Spot on Warky, I remember some of the old geezers in the Sixfields Tavern telling me about that onetime.
Got to agree with everything that has been said here, this is great times to be a town fan and we can go into every game believing we can get something. All we have to do is what Boston says - Don't stop believing. MM and TC are fast getting to be thought of as legends at fortress portman road.
Great performance today. It was one that made me truely believe we could be promotion contenders this year, although not purist football we played with a swagger that I haven't seen from an Ipswich team perhaps since our great home form under Magilton, the first half we controlled the game and actually with the ball. Bishop and Tabb we outstanding. We played with an element of control yet purpose which I haven't seen before against a very good side who we contained. As ever Berra was outstanding at the back, such a solid performance from our back 5, I think Bart has got to have confirmed himself as our no1 now, he commands his box very well. My only small gripe was that we couldn't keep the ball better in the last 20 minutes, whilst Boro weren't that threatening we didn't have much possession and when Skuse went off there were some holes which started to open up in the midfield as it looked like none of our players were really sure who'd was playing the sitting role so sometimes got caught out of position.
Yeah, you could notice when Skuse and Ando went off. Ambrose gave the ball away a couple of times in the middle third but Bru played well. I believe I'm right in saying that the team today cost absolutely nothing to put together. We used 14 players and didn't pay a transfer fee for any, now that's what I call management. Mick is doing everything right. From working under financial constraints (and not complaining about it) to putting a competitive team together and making a group of players perform every week and who in my opinion must love coming into work every day.
evening chaps. just a little message to say i am totaly suprised by how well you lot are doing,i was on here after we beat you and honestly thought you were relegation fodder, and described murphy as a hod carrier, but i must admit i was wrong, you have done well.very.you must be over the moon. however i still think your squad is not strong enough for the long haul and we will finish ahead of you come the end of the season. but (reluctently!) congratulations
yep I think your right weighty, Its the lack of oxygen in our lofty position is playing havoc with my memory!
what will be, will be! I just like the fact we are playing without fear, its the first time in 5/6 years that we know we can beat anybody if we have got our heads on right. IMWT!
