still it can't cost that much to raise the barriers, by another 5 feet, with the curved top bits like scarb, apparently some people who try and commit suicide but can't change their minds.. nothing to do with the mental health help, but this can't harm can it? got to be done, signed
Signed. Suicide is never an easy choice, regardless of how its done. More should be spent on putting in place stuff to help people with this awful level of depression.
Yes, which is why mental health programs would be nice to have as well. Like you rightly pointed out, one thing is not the answer. As far as gun deaths here go yea, well, thats a whole other bag of problems with even less of a likelihood of being addressed. Luckily you do not have that issue there.
I can see the Bridge where I live and this poor girls passing has been on my mind since Wednesday, r.i.p Beth
I'm glad you said that but sooner or later on forums someone will say, "Suicide? It's the coward's way out."
Sadly you may be right. They'll be up for COTM if they do. It's unimaginable what pushes anyone at all to such depths of despair. We need investment in our mental health programs.
Signed, as i have posted in the past that i am a psychiatric nurse and have just returned from being over. I did catch up with friends in the psychiatric nursing,One of my friends works with the Youth and it is appalling the cuts they have had to endure and the lack of beds for those needing safety.Unfortunately mental illness in general is still a bit of a stigma,i trained at De la Pole from 1978 and so have been around a long time in it.I still enjoy the job and awareness has improved but not enough. A few years ago a similar situation occurred on CI and i was sickened by some of the responses to the suicides of two young girls from Hull.As i said at the time would they have the courage to speak to the family members at that time.Hope you are okay.
Suicide cowards way out? true, HOWEVER, it takes guts to take your own life! I am not sure I am brave enough to do that.
I have to cross the bridge on a regular basis to see the Mrs, and crossing it during the past few days has been pretty horrid knowing about the tragic events that have happened involving poor Beth. R.I.P. Signed.
Signed it. Sad time of the year for a significant amount of people, so something like this should be supported. R.I.P.
Something needs to be done regards to raising the barrier. If you make it harder and longer for people to think the more likely they are back out. Signed RIP Beth.
I started suffering from depression when I was 15, and it lasted throughout my entire last year at school. I considered killing myself because of it. Thankfully, I didn't, and my life's pretty good at the moment. There's always a reason to deter suicide, because your perspective of life can change radically if you give it time.
