Well there was this idea that he'd be back by now, or end of October. Then there was the rumour of the second op, which turns out to be true. This obviously puts him back a few weeks, because scraping away spare tissue, even when doing it via keyhole surgery, needs to heal. This guy is £25M worth, not threepence, so he's got to heal properly. I have these occasional visions of him breaking down during a game. I know I shouldn't because these days the treatment is so bloody good. But I've seen a few players, from a decade or two back, go down and you really feel for them because they've fought so hard through a career ending [back then] injury.
According the the Daily Star (yes I know) he had fluid on the knee. So has been told to rest for 10 days, they said he has been working too hard.
I've had fluid on the knee from working too hard. Never realised I was in such good company. To be fair, to the everyday person, that's not remotely serious. To a £25M footballer, it's a bit of a concern, but only a wee bit.
The second op he needed fluid drained from his knee. You don't want to be having operation after operation in the same area. They need to lower his training intensity in general after his rest period, or the same thing will happen again.
I was in danger of fluid on the knee for a long while... fortunately it all the fluid collated in my belly instead.
I didnt see it so sorry if posted before but i saw this on a spurs forum 10 days ago. That was posted on the 11/11 so the re-injury happened a little while ago...also disappointing that spurs know our goings on before we do. If that's true then that will be him out until next season. And no one will sign him next Summer either.
There is a hell of a difference between re-rupturing your ACL and having to have a follow-up keyhole operation to tidy up scar tissue and drain fluid, the latter being the reality from what the Echo has said. If there was any truth in the story on the Spurs forum we would have heard something about it by now, surely?
Nerve of the Spurs fan...bad news for Spurs and JRod...he isn't their player last time I looked, so how is it a disaster for them.
Gutted for the lad and the the club (and us fans too) Makes the ongoing contract negotiations interesting though
