I'm aware that you didn't want him from the start. Neither did I, but now he's a Liverpool player I see no point in doing anything other than supporting him. Maybe I'm just being an old fart but that's what being a supporter is about, imo. It doesn't mean blindly thinking he's wonderful and ignoring his weaknesses, it just means refraining from getting on his back all the time. I see no advantage to the club in supporters making a player know he's disliked. However, all of this is barely relevant to my point. I was dismayed that fans' unhappiness with his on-field performances mean they offered him no support against the FA's latest pathetic attempt to make it look like they have any sort of clue as to how to identify, and deal with, genuine racism. Being unimpressed with him as a player is no reason to hate him as a man.
TBF, and to sort of use your own words, stuff on here doesn't effect what happens on the pitch. We could every players every word in the dictionary and it shouldn't matter so long as the fans in attendance on match day support the players.
It really winds me up because a lot of people don't know/understand what real racism is. They just want to jump on the smallest thing (i.e. Mario's post) and BE SEEN to be fighting against racism because it looks like the right thing to do. The FA are a bunch of morons. If they think his message was racist, I would like to see them subjected to the racist abuse Mario himself has received throughout his life.
Touché Well exactly. He can be a complete bag o' ****e on the pitch but I'd still support him against their idiocy.
Why always me?? There are players driving Aston Martins without licenses in Germany y'know. What happened with the Malky Mackay texts scandal, it's all gone quiet there.
The racism thing I wont get into. On the other point I can't help but agree and feel that I'm usually quite positive about our players but the signing of Balotelli was probably the straw for me. Because I had watched him a lot and had formed a very strong opinion it was a right kick in the nuts to see him in a Liverpool shirt I did say that I hoped he'd prove me wrong and that I would be happy for him to do so but so far everything about him has just ingrained that opinion further. He's not the first player to be disliked by he fans and I'm sure he wont be the last, I feel it's down to him if he wants a career here and that he can prove people wrong by becoming a hard worker on the pitch. It's not as if his style of play has made him a World Class player so why not change and run himself into the ground for the shirt. If I see that then I'll certainly support him.
