With those stats he is indeed a legend, an embarrassing legend, but one nonetheless.

So two players we signed for a combined fee of less than £2m from a championship club and midtable French side aren't actually premiership standard. Shocker.

We got our money worth and more for these guys. We can slate them as much as we like but this is the transfer policy we are stuck with, it occasionally works well but there's going to be trash and Ashley will demand they get playing time anyway because he doesn't believe in wasting money!

Fair point! Willo & Gouf aren't good enough, but they are what we have. That's the level of our squad. We've just been lucky that some of the fringe players and youngsters have done well when needed. But it doesn't disguise how thin the squad is on real quality.

Right now, we barely have 4 or 5 'purples'. A few with great potential, yes. But ready made right now and good enough to walk into most other Prem teams? Very, very few of our lads fit that criteria. We have an average Prem squad, at best! With all the current injuries, we are poor.

More Mike Williamson being blamed when the whole team is basically sub par.

Mike has definitely improved and put in a lot of solid performances. We're having a blip, Pardew is getting his tactics wrong, and the back four look weak.

Dummett should only ever play as a CB, because he gets raped by any player with flair on the wing.

Williamson is just another player that will be arse raped whenever we go on a bad run and we're looking for a person to call a donkey that's holding us back.

Most of the team has been piss poor and the tactics have been ****, on top of the fact that we have a goalkeeping crisis at the moment, and that's why we've lost 3 games in a row.

Williamson is given no where near as much credit when he does well compared to the stick he gets when we do poorly. When he does well people will sarcastically shout "get in Mike Beckenbaur".

I'd take Willo over Saylor any day.

Like I said, there aren't 11 teams in this league with 2 CB's significantly better than Williamson, and the way we've played over the last 2 years proves that top 10 is the most we deserve.

Williamson is good enough for Newcastle until we prove we're too good for him.

Coloccini has been in and out with Injuries, and is a shadow of his former self, and only comes in every so often to put in a great performance.

Saylor needs to be shipped as soon as possible. Crock, and a guy who's "passion", aka playing on the fans emotions to win their favour which he thinks increases his chances of staying, shouldn't enough to keep him here. He puts in, what, 5 good performances a season?

So before you tell me Williamsons not good enough, look at what we have, and look at what's around us.

    Newcastle (4-3-3):
Krul, Janmaat, Colo, Steven Taylor, Dummett, Colback, Tiote, Sissoko, Obertan, Aarons, De Jong.

Subs: Darlow, Haidara, Ryan Taylor, Anita, Abeid, Sammy, Cisse.

For a club aspiring to 8th I have no problem with that squad, save for having a better CB alongside Colo.

As is often the case when you have an inexperienced goalkeeper this has a tendency to unsettle the defence as they are now having to worry about the goalkeepers actions behind them, particularly after the errors that have led directly to goals, Alnwick knocked on the door demanding a chance and after a very rocky start he needs to find his feet for Sunday or it's gonna be a bloodbath.

Alnwick's confidence will be shot after the last couple of games. He needs the crowd to get behind him to give him a boost and to start the game well. The Mackems will be peppering crosses and shots at him so a couple of good catches/ shot saves will do him the world of good. Whether he is good enough long term is another question. All that matters at the minute is Sunday and hoping Alnwick has the game of his life.

Sunderland???? Peppering crosses and shots at him???? The amount of shots we typically have per game I doubt he is gonna have any trouble! I think he is more likely gonna suffer if he has to deal with the occasional troublesome, over hit back pass!!!

I love how this derby is degenerating ino a contest as to which set of fans are the most pessimistic about their own teams chances.

Saylor is a fist pumping c**t of a liability. Williamson is a carthorse bastard who is as slow as molasses in wintertime.

Both bring their own form of ****ing wretchedness to the table and both will no doubt make huge abortion mistakes during sunday's game.

I would honestly prefer playing Dummett at CB.

Yes, he has. But this is my point, it's really not a bad squad, it's just we have to play a certain way, be that down to necessity or the manager. That way creates injuries at the moment while we take it to the next level. In your eleven, feel free to put Perez, but I am guessing then that Aarons, De Jong or Obertan step down. Not a bad thing at all, just highlighting the point that really we are a centre back short, nothing more/nothing less, given our aspiration.
