The claim that Mario is lazy is laughable and just shows that some fans don't actually watch the player.
I'd have Lambert over him not that either is good, I'm not going along with him being good at Utd, if that performance deserves praise then we are in trouble, he wasn't bad but certainly wasn't good just another average Mario performance and worryingly that is as good as it gets for him.
I've watched him a lot and would certainly say he is lazy, sometimes it is not a physical thing but mental he doesn't think he should be chasing a player down but either way it's lazy and beside that when he does get the ball technically he's also not very good and to add even more his decision making is shockingly bad.
Fair enough - I meant to say he was a lot better against United and it was a decent performance. But he will never get the recognition for it. He made the right runs and got into the right positions. But I completely disagree on his work ethic - he tracks backs and presses. I think he's being unfairly compared to Suarez (subliminally). Sturridge is a lazy player but none of the fans were getting on his back about not working hard enough.
It's a fair comment on Sturridge, he doesn't tend to track back and his defensive side is lazy his attacking effort is then exceptional and he'll work his ass off if he thinks we may benefit from it. I'm not comparing Mario to Suarez there's no comparison to be made, simply he's the type of player I just don't like he was ok against Utd and made the right runs and put in the required effort but regardless of the effort in 1 game he goes missing too often and other aspects of his game are also poor which make for a poor all round player. I'm not a fan and will probably be a harsh judge where you may look at things differently and see potential.
He is more selfish and lazy than a Liverpool player should be. Other clubs may be fine with that, but it's not good enough for us tbh. He's got to show us more than just talent, heck he's not even showing us that at the moment.
Big issue we have when he plays is that Sterling clearly doesn't get on with him. Sterling and Sturridge interlink brilliantly for both Liverpool and England, with Balotelli though neither seem to pass to each other. Makes me wonder how the rest of the squad perceive him.
But Sturridge doesn't flap his arms in a huff if he takes a poor touch (blaming the passing player). Also sturridge makes runs frequently in vain, and gets in the f**ing box!! Sturridge also doesn't bloody selfishly pot shot from 35 yards out as soon as he gets the ball.
Quick somebody open a tw*tter account using Johnsons name and slag off an ethnic race....it could work!
Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying Mario has been brilliant for us. I think he needs to improve massively, and I didn't really want us to sign him in the first place. I just think he's a scapegoat and the criticism he's receiving is OTT.
The only thing I've discussed with you about that game is the goalkeeping, all of which was shown on MOTD with each being a goalscoring opportunity and all
Perhaps he just needs to find his range, he should start shooting from half way and move forward slowly, which shouldn't be a problem for him.
And I won't deny being one of them. I'm trying not to vent my displeasure directly at Mario because its not his fault (bar the work ethic), he's simply the wrong player for us. Agree and the same. I also agree that he isn't good enough but then, I knew that before we signed him so again, I don't blame Mario, I blame Brod because he has the final say on transfers. Maybe I'm just kidding myself that I'm not blaming Mario though. I do think he is **** and should never have been bought, his work ethic isn't as bad as i thought it would be but it still remains truly shocking, just shows how bad I thought he was before we signed him.
Because its the Liverpool way to support the player? I don't like seeing a vendetta against a player which is why you'll often find me arguing some sort of defence for the 'scapegoats'. Just not in Mario's or Johnson's case right now
