That was comment #5, the conversation had moved on before you came swooping in at #23 and brought it back up
2001 FA cup final.....didn't play or make the bench 2001 League Cup....from the bench after 85 mins or so. But he did manage a penno in the shootout 2001 UEFA Cup....didnt make it off the bench 2001 Charity Shield.....Started that worthless pot, it's not something to celebrate or put on a CV....unless Moyes has won more than Rodgers ;-)
Football does very much follow the laws of supply and demand. Even worse in the rarified atmosphere inhabited by the top players. If a player is wanted by Real Madrid then we are talking very big numbers. I think anything less than £150k will not be acceptable to sterling. At the very least he needs to be paid more than balotelli. He and his agent know that Liverpool don't want him to leave. And he knows that if he doesn't sign a new contract the amount of money the club could get from him will be less if he had more than 2 years on his contract. It is like a game of poker. Is he going to Real anyway and how desperate are Real to get him? In this case the club could offer him £200k and if they manage to get him to sign 5 yr contract, they could squeeze a huge transfer fee from Real. Many ifs and if things go badly wrong, they could be left with a player on a huge wage.
Equally, chucking him a crazy figure like £200k per week might scare Real off completely and then we're stuck pay that amount. I don't believe Real are interested, not yet anyway. He's not good enough at present.
