Hull boss Steve Bruce says the club plans to offer as many as seven members of his current squad contract extensions in the new year.

Defenders Liam Rosenior, Alex Bruce and James Chester, along with midfield quartet David Meyler, Robbie Brady, Ahmed Elmohamady and Stephen Quinn, are all set to enter the final 18 months of their current deals in the new year.

While Bruce will have to ship out some of his players in January if he wishes to bring anyone in, the Tigers chief has no plans to let his stalwarts go as he feels they are a vital part of his squad.

"We are looking at all of those players, and talks with them are on the agenda," Bruce told the Yorkshire Post.

"We would be wise to start entering negotiations with them, and we will probably get together in January, I would have thought.

"There is no immediate rush, but there will be a lot of talking going on there, for sure. "We are not in the healthiest situation in the league at the moment, so let's hope we are in mid-table by the time discussions begin.

    Notice no mention of McShane?

I'm not sure Macca has played well enough when called upon to deserve a new deal, not sure he's needed.

Chester is obviously a priority there. I'd also hope they tie Brady down to a long deal.

Would agree with that. Bruce is a better all round player and his performances have backed that up.

Though you will still get many who disagree just because Alex is the manager's lad.

I think Bruce is a lot more reliable than Macca, he's been very solid the last couple of season whenever called upon.

Saturday will tell us if McShane is being frozen out or not, disregard the 3rd keeper and we've got 19 players available with 1 the odd man out, it'd usually be Maguire but i suspect he'll take McShanes spot on the bench against Swansea.

McGregor Chester Davies Bruce Elmo Livermore Ramirez Meyler Robertson Hernandez Jelavic

Jakupovic Rosenior Maguire Quinn Brady Aluko Sagbo

totally agree, my only reservation is he's a little bit injury prone.

A good point, which isn't exactly what you need when he's replacing people who are out due to injury!

McShane is by a million miles a better player than Bruce.

Bruce has to make those last ditch tackles because he's out of position in the first place, or it was him that gave it away.

Passing % for our centre backs in the league:

    Davies 85.9%
    McShane 85.3%
    Chester 84.5%
    Dawson 81.6%
    Bruce 73.6

That's 10% worse accuracy than our top three, and 12% worse than McShane.

McShane doesn't make any last ditch tackles because he is so far out of position he can't get back in time.

    You're talking bollocks mate.

McShane is the only player on the team who can put in a MOTM performance and be put the squad the next week. It's a shame he's leaving but I can completely understand why.

Give me all the stats in the world, but I watch us play every week and we look a much more solid team when Bruce is in the team.

Bruce played away at Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and QPR and at home to Palace.

McShane has played against West Brom in the cup, Stoke at home, Villa, Southampton and Burnley.

Performances and results are better with Bruce in the team, that's a fact.

Disagree 100%, it fills me with dread every time Bruce is named in the team.

Bit far to claim the Arsenal and Chelsea ones for him when he's come on as a sub, particularly as the two goals we conceded when he was playing, IMO were preventable. At Arsenal he had no reason at all to rush out of the line and leave Welbeck alone, and at Chelsea the way Costa just jogs around him wouldn't have happened with a different player in that position.

Just to add, Bruce also played in the West Brom cup game, as he was named third in the MOM poll for that one. McShane also leads him in the voting there, as he has one second place this season away at Burnley.

As appose to McShane away at West Brom? Letting his man run free into the box. Burnley and Villa were two of our worst performances of the season and McShane started them both.
