As with most things ' European ' read the full decision rather than the headlines. It will only affect a small number of people and is not a general directive.

I think i can survive without the EDP 50's last time i read it there was a big full page article about an alcohol licence being granted at a Shell petrol station because it was until midnight and may cause gatherings of young people at weekends.:)

I may be able to get the Diss Mercury still.

Ban Smoking in your own Car with Kids in the back... I don't disagree with this but it wont be long before they then try and ban Smoking in Cars altogether!

If you can be prosecuted for eating a sandwich why not smoking?

I've said for years it should be banned whilst driving, drop a lit cigarette for example your focus isn't on the road.

I don't care either way but if you're going after people eating food at the wheel how can you justify ignoring smoking at the wheel?

As for the op they said being obese COULD be a disability in the workplace. They're not saying you'd be registered disabled entitled to PIP etc they're saying this because obese people could then be protected from discrimination on the grounds of weight.

A disability is the wrong word as such but it's the wording of the legislation

There is a lot of disinformation about the EU emanating from UKIP type sources. Some things need to be addressed but Farage and especially his pals are not the way to do it.The bloke from Basildon is typical of the type of nutter standing for them. imagine Foreign Secretary Kerry Smith "Yeah I nuked Putin .but my lumbago was playing up"

Why not just have a total ban on Smoking and have done with it!

I'm sure the Government will find other ways of replacing the Billions it will lose in Tax revenues.

Agree with you here CT. I admit that my European credentials have suffered a bit over time as the stupid bureaucracy and lamentable decisions cannot be defended but UKIP is definitely not the way to go as you pointed out in your example. I am not really sure what the answer is as you will never get total agreeement between all of the member countries but the concept of a united continent has to be one that should not be thrown away. In many ways the EU are their own worst enemies as the good things they do go unnoticed. Such as for example the money given to the UK years ago for the areas devastated by the loss of the mining industry and more recently the areas hit by last year's floods. All you hear thanks to the lovely Daily Mail is stuff like the curvature of bloody bananas and the outpourings of the European Court of Human Rights, the very title makes me want to boke!!!

Even as a smoker i don't really disagree - better to have a blanket ban than the creeping outlawing of it that's currently going on

You're right on the revenue front but be careful what you wish for - the Irish have just introduced a water tax, for example, which would be a great way of recouping the revenue <yikes>
