That's like saying if you are dealt a hand at poker that has no chance of winning then you can just shuffle them and it will turn into a winning hand. You will need different cards that may give you a better hand - like we need a striker (or two) to get the ball in the back of the net.
So Sagbo, McShane and Ben Arfa out in January. McGuire out on loan. Ince probably coming back. I suspect that will be it for our transfer dealings.
Ben arfa doesn't really need replacing as we played him out of position anyway, he was basically an extra and useless body for how bruce wants to play. We will prob be in for 1-2 strikers and if mcshane is leaving 1 center back
McShane is contracted until July next year so I doubt anyone would come in for him when they could get him for free in 6 months time. At 28 years of age I think he still has something to give but whereas he always gives 100% and is reliable to do a job he is perhaps a little short on ability at this level. I wouldn't doubt that should he leave he will make a contribution to a Championship side - which might be us yet (that was a joke Ethel).
People can take the piss all they like, I'm sure Roo doesnt care. Fact is he called it with Sagbo from day one and now Brucey's agreed.
I called it with Sagbo from day one, then realised I was wrong and he wasn't the mental buger I thought he was at first. Roo just moans about every striker who doesn't score 20 goals, which for us is all of them. There's nothing insightful about it.
No, that's horse! What I moan about is the posters who continue to make excuses about 'strikers' who do not score - not the actual player. I was 'howled down' and had posters telling me that Altidore would 'come good' (I'm still waiting - and so are the Sunlun fans)), Proschwitz would 'come good' (nuff said), Simpson would 'come good' (can't score in the lower leagues and couldn't score in Asia) and that Sagbo would 'come good' given the chance and that he was a great 'hold-up' player. What a load of absolute and utter cr@p. I may be 12,000 miles away and only see the games on TV but I can tell if a 'striker' is any good or not. I saw Rooney play his first game for Everton and score his first goal on debut - he stood out like dogs balls! I think he was 16 at the time and scored an absolute b@llbiter of a goal against (I believe) Arsenal who had a world class goalkeeper in Seaman at the time. Have a look at it on YouTube and tell me what Sagbo would have done in Rooney's position - he would have turned back, headed towards the touchline and passed back to a defender. Enough is enough.
There was a lot of talk about Rooney even before he made his debut so I don't think you can honestly say you scouted him.
You use the poker analogy a lot, I'm not sure it's really working out for you. Having a duff hand in poker in comparison to a football team would be like having 11 players who aren't capable of even remotely competing at this level. We know we're good enough, players like Diame, Dawson and Jelavic have been doing it for a while now. What do you do with a bad hand? You fold. We aren't going to fold. We'll probably sign a couple players in the window to beef up the squad and cut some of the chaff out. A striker certainly, two is very doubtful.
How soon before we are at crazy town level 5 with transfer rumors and I can start suggesting players I find on Fifa that are under the age of 22 with an 80 overall and are currently free agents?
Where the hell did I say that "I scouted him" - you are taking my post totally out of context. What I said was that he "stuck out like dogs balls" - Altidore, Proschwitz, Graham, Simpson and Sagbo didn't and I said so.
Two of those three are out injured and the other one is working on his own. Whilst you are posting stuff, like the following, Sterling, the more I love my dog! Quote (Sterling Archer): Well, what a strange day. I'm currently working part time in order to pay my mortgage and afford to do stuff, and I've had three seperate customers come in and tell me that the club has been sold in this last month, two of them today, one last week. Just wondering if anybody here has heard anything to back this up? As far as I know the people (one of whom frequents my work quite often) aren't anything to do with the club and they wouldn't say who told them. The 'regular' told me it hasn't been ratified by the FA yet and won't be announced until sometime in January, apparently the owners are from the US. I know if anybody had heard anything it would already have been posted on here anyway, but it'd be interesting to see if anybody had heard any snippets of info? It just seems strange to me that I'd hear the same thing three times in a week when it isn't really a hot topic at the moment and all three had similar facts, despite not knowing each other. I even asked Deano and he said he had no idea, not that he would anyway, but desperate to get some info I clutched at straws. Unquote: My dog: please log in to view this image
Simpson's scored 6 goals in his last 11 games for Leyton Orient, so he can obviously score in the lower leagues.
You are lowering yourself to jiggling stats Madge. Simpson has score 3 from 17 appearances in the League. 0 from 4 in the Cups. 3 from 2 "other" whatever they may be.
