No chance whatsoever of us signing him. He would want over 100k a week. Hasn't he deteriorated this season anyway?

50k NET, I heard. That equates to probably closer to 100k with tax and all other benefits ......... plus cost of living over here (even for a footballer) is a lot higher than Turkey ..........

 

Istanbul is one of the most expensive places I have been to....southampton is miles cheaper.

As a matter of interest, how near are we to the maximum number of players we can have. I know youngsters don't count which must help.

 

No where near.

 

After the closing of the summer transfer window each Premier League club had a deadline of 5pm on 3 September to submit a squad list containing no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.
The remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be home grown. A Home Grown Player means a player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).
Changes to the squad list of 25 may be made during the period of a transfer window. Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. For the 2014/15 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 1993.

Yet again a rumour of Schneiderlin leaving in January (this time to Arsenal). Why would we part with Morgan now...he will still be worth money in the summer. Might get more now, but our latest results suggest he is crucial for us. It would be like Saints throwing in the towel.

 

De Telegraaf in Holland reporting that we've agreed terms with Eljero Elia, with talks to finalise the deal at an advanced stage.

Fee of around €4m-€6m.

 

Weren't we linked with him a couple of years ago?

 

Don't know much about him apart from he is jonno quick. Is he basically another mane ?

 

He played a part role for Holland in the 2010 WC (they lost in the final) and was playing for Juventus at the time, but he didn't really impress. Went to Germany somewhere, and i haven't therefore seen him for couple of years.

 

Winger, keeper and striker is what we need. So he fits the bill.

 

Am a little surprised that we're going for another player who predominantly features on the left, but he's a decent addition...never really lived up to the hype, and his finishing makes Mane look like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he's fast, tricky and creative. Wouldn't expect him to displace any of our starters, but he's useful cover.

 

Unfortunately potential signings will be concerned that two of those positions appear unassailable and therefore they would be joining as cover/backup. May make things tricky for us...
