Brendan Rodgers sack watch

Discussion in 'Manchester United' started by UIR - Kagawa Powa, Aug 11, 2012.

  1. I always thought the eight CL drop outs were seeded in the EL but it seems not to be the case this season. Its not split; best four of those eight are seeded, the other four aren't. Did the ruling change at some point?

TBH, the none seeded side looks as strong as the seeded side ATM

Not really, you're patently just concentrating on the CL dropouts, have a look at some of the likely group winners, as that's who'll be drawn against.

Been working away and stuck in a Travelodge, but did watch the Basil game. First half was hilarious, with the dippers shown up by a third rate Swiss team.

What was that song again? something about channel 5 and Thurday nights?

Aye, the seeded side is only likely to get tougher, particularly given Napoli, Feyenoord and Spurs should almost certainly win their groups.

Whereas the non seeded side still has to fill up with the likes of Qarabag, Torino and Guingamp.

Do we have to pick on Brenda? Lets look at the good points, he has managed to keep this poor Liverpool side in Europe. And it's far less hassle to watch channel 5 on a Thursday night rather than having to pay for Sky. And the Europa league does has a kind of ring of exclusivity to it. Plus to qualify, you have to be unfortunate enough to have had a bad run in the Champions league. Either that or your just a mid table team who play crap football and miss out on the real champions league.

But its still not Brenda's fault, all those players he bought for 200 mill just havn't performed to his expectations

Is Brendan an example of the "Peter Principle" ?

Well, it could be argued that Brendan's appointment as Manager at Liverpool was based on his performance as Manager of Swansea rather than (necessarily) on abilities relevant to the Liverpool role.

Did he have experience of Managing a Club with World Class players (Suarez, Gerrard - arguable in Gerrard's case)?

Did he have experience of successfully spending enormous sums of money on players? Ballotelli, Borini, Lallana etc.

The Peter Principle states that people are promoted so long as they work competently. Brendan certainly did so at Swansea - getting us promoted to and keeping us in the PL.

However, sooner or later, people get promoted/appointed to a position at which they are no longer competent. Did Brendan live off Suarez' brilliance last year?

Very much so, as well as buying very poor mid table players.

Suarez also lost his brilliance after leaving liverpool.

Hes nowhere near the third best player as some claimed last season.

I think some people would say it applied to Moyes too. Great for a club like Everton but not really suitable for United - with a history of massive recent success and huge expectation.

Talking of the Rat, I think we all have situations or colleagues or partners where everyhting just clicks. A bit like Cantona at United. He was just right for United, at the right time and when talented youngsters were emerging and with the right manager willing to let him have free reign. Cantona could never do it at international level with other players and another manager.

The Rat's influence will only be a fraction of what he had at the RS and I can see him being a failure and a disappointment with Barca.

And what are the odds Christian of the rat getting limited games, then when he does play he barely gets a kick and then resorts to another bite?

I recon he will not be able to resist another bite if the game is going against him

Rodgers has to stay!!! Those team selections on Sunday were the work of a pure football genius. Who else would go into a game without a striker, and a raw goalkeeper who has very little experience. It takes unheard of audacity to win the game, and it was all purely bad luck that he didn't get all 3 points.

Who else would be brave enough to show such daring tactics. Consider the following......

Valencia was very lucky with the nutmeg that led to the first goal
Mata was clearly interfearing with play when he headed the second.
The goalkeeper was clearly distracted by a team mate and was looking in the other direction when Van Persie scored. On that point alone, the goal should have been disallowed.
The ref failed to give Liverpool 2 penalties. Not sure what the offences were, but liverpool always get penalties against united.
So don't sack Rodgers, hes doing a wonderful job in leading all the top half of the table into a false sense of security. Even allowing Everton to be the top side in Merseyside is all part of the master plan.

Brenda's superstars are beating the might Bournemouth 3-0. Bet the yanks can't wait to reward him with a bonus. After all, not many clubs are capable of winning 3-0 away from home to Dorset's equivalent of Real Madrid
