Is this Pardew reverting to type after a few lucky wins or just a minor blip in a decent run?
A tough one but two hammering a back to back (no matter who the opposition) ain't exactly encouraging.

Pardew is a one trick pony who rides waves, most fans are happy to forget the last 12 months and just focus on the last 7 weeks or so

    Pardew got it wrong tonight.

Dummett is never a right back, he should have started CB and Anita RB. At this level, whether as a starter or a back up Mike Williamson is not good enough.

Armstrong looked bright and I'd be more than happy for him to feature more heavily going forward.

Gouffran, Williamson and Alnwick are finished, none of them are good enough. Cabella HAS to do something soon, he offers nothing.

Injuries have caught up with us. Having said that a few things went against us tonight, we were comfortable up until Alnwick gifted them a goal and at 2-0 if Riviere or Cabella get on the end of that cross it's a different game.

I'd be all for a front 3 of Perez, Armstrong and Aarons going forward this season though, massively impressed with all three.

Just need to hope confidence hasn't taken too much of a battering after shipping eight goals in two games.

Agree with most of that. I thought Cabella had a decent first half and showed signs that he is getting stronger and adapting. Most of the team were poor in the second half though.

Gouffran is one of those players who is better off the ball than on it which I suspect is where his lifeline is coming from, but it has to stop now. He isn't good enough.
Williamson was a hard worker for us who briefly won many of us over with his hard work and the improvements he made to his game. He is now well past his best though and not good enough. He also drags Colo down to his level, as Colo never plays as well alongside Williamson.

As for Alnwick, I don't see how he can play in the derby - but what is the alternative. Risk an even younger keeper and hope he doesn't freeze like Alnwick has done?

Pardew got it wrong with the team tonight big time, but there is no doubting the injury situation has absolutely devestated us.

    Hopefully a blip.
One thing for certain Sunday will sort the men out from the boys.

Have to stick with Alnwick - we cant just give up on him after two games and hope a 17yo will do better.
The lad needs to play competitive football.

In escape to victory they pretended their goalie was injured/****e before winning.

Never really classed this as a good attribute for a footballer or any sort of ball-playing sportsman actually. I don't think this is a case of us being back to where we were. Our heavy defeats I think are directly related to our defense just not being right. Tonight I would have played Dummett with Colo at CB and then stuck Anita in at FB. Thought we were missing another holding midfielder as well. Colback plays best as part of a two, rather than the only holding midfielder. Agree Gouffran adds nothing to the team at the moment.

Hopefully this will have stung them for Sunday and not deflate them.

Interesting how you only post on here when we've got beat.

    Just saying.

The blips are finishing 5th, the run at the beginning of last season and it would also appear the recent run of good form. Turgid clueless shambolic football is the 'norm'

too early to say to be fair.
I take it season by season.
We're slightly better off in the league than I expected at this point to be fair.

I think we have rode our luck a bit in some of the matches we have won. Not really won a game where I thought we controlled things. We are back to normal. When we win we just get over the line. When we lose we get hammered. Generally speaking we are just a mid table side with no real ambition to kick on. Money has made it near impossible to challenge for the league top 4. For me the last two results and a defeat against the mackems would really put the season into turmoil. No simple solution. Average team average manager average performances and average results.

It's the curse of winning Manager Of The Month and is following a similar pattern to last year. Unfortunately, for P45due he has more troughs than peaks and if we can't beat Sun5er1and on Sunday all the vitriol will return.

I think Sunday will tell us the answer.

Colo and Taylor will start, Janmaat will be back from suspension. We'll have Sissoko through the middle, the mackemslayermarkII on the wing and perez up top. Hopefully with Peter Cech between the sticks.

If we don't win then that will tell us a lot. If we do, then two hammerings when we were way below strength I would take as the blip

Thought Pardew got it wrong against Spurs but we haven't done much wrong of late otherwise. I understand the derby is on the horizon and we wanted to keep Saylor fresh with his injury record. Anita has proven before he can do a job at right back. Dummett should have been central with Colo. I don't think it would have made loads of difference, they are lacking confidence in what is behind them too.

I still think we're a lower half of the table squad so its too early to go jumping off the deep end just as it was earlier in the season.

Back to the norm. He has good runs that make look brilliant, followed by 3 or 4 months of dreadful football. 23 3 goal defeats in his 4 years, 6-0 home defeat to Liverpool, sums the guy up. Should have been gone 18 months ago.

Agreed. The guy is a poor manager. He would have been peddled long ago had he been employed anywhere else. But as long as he keeps us in mid table mediocrity and out of the cups he will remain at the helm. But he is ****e, he talks ****e and he believes his own ****e hype. Basically ****e.

It's going to be a slow but predictable slide down the League table from now on.

    Reckon we'll finish around 14th.

    1-1 draw coming up.

Far, far too much is read into it. Ronald Koeman's Southampton lost, what, 6 of the last 7? After being the best thing ever, an alleged serious CL team?

Just seems we play better when our best players are available. When we're down to third choice in at least 3 positions, we struggle. Shock horror. Spurs had Adebayor missing. That was it for them. And were at home. If roles were reversed, I'd expect NUFC to win. if we rocked up with a full strength team at home against Spurs' third choice and lost then I'd be concerned.

Sunday will be difficult, because we have a 'keeper in goal who was being let go for free at the end of the season, the club know he's not good enough but Darlow's at Forest. We have a serious number of injuries to big players, and it's because we have to play a hard game to pick up wins against teams like Chelsea, Spurs, etc. Trouble is the pitchforks will be out if we get beat, and I just don't think it's relevant anymore.
