Beppe once was our hero And probably doesn't know That Leo's thread Is not dead But still continues to grow
While the best sheets are made out of cotton And Hamlet said Denmark was rotten While we're alive One fact must survive That Beppe should not be forgotten
My best sheets are made out silk And other materials of that ilk But one thing I do know Beppe didn't have to go And at his departure I did bilk.
But sheets that are made out of wool Are no help to a guy on the pull Yet despite having these Beppe doesn't displease And keeps his appointment book full
My thought on Saturday The man who sang 'Your Song' To us Hornets he could do no wrong He once bought our team And we all lived his Dream So a big thank you, Sir Elton John.
A man no longer named Dwight, Wore clothes incredibly bright, He put his hand in his pocket, This man from a rocket, And took us on an amazing flight.
For Watford the future looked bright And Saturday night was all right So well did it bode For the yellow brick road We thought we could reach the top flight
CM, are you suggesting my previous efforts are defective in that respect? Each one has taken me at least three minutes to compose and scansion was on each occasion uppermost in my mind
The Hornets did limericks make, Often for the extraction of urine to take, Though they tried to a man, Cornish Mark said rightly they didn't often scan, And this one's the same, for f**'s sake.
Mark, please let us not forget For Beppe these odes are set If the limericks don't scan And you're not a fan Blame Leo, he'll regret this thread yet
Andy, you have to realise it takes Theo longer because he is a professional writer and he has to pass it through his proof reader first.
Yeh - well you make the classic novice mistake. The clue is that Beppe is Italian and all these limericks are designed for translation into his mother tongue where they scan perfectly
I would but don't want to embarrass any of you so will let our professional theo do it as we all expect quality from him
