Your boy learned an important lesson, that will serve him well in later life; Sometimes you get kicked in the guts, hard, and it hurts. But you get up the next day and get on with your life, because you know what? The pain passes, the good times come again eventually, and they're all the sweeter when they do because you have suffered.

On the other hand, you could just tell him it's only football.

Perhaps the supporters could vent their spleen on all stuffy politicians from Farage, Boris, Cameron, Clegg to Miliband if it goes belly-up against Everton. Everton fans would quite willingly join in the fun!!!!

One minute we are riding the crest of a wave, the next minute we get hit by a tsunami, well, let's hope the tide will turn and we get back to basics and start a new voyage.

For anyone that likes surfing that's a good analogy cos it means we're just about to catch the next wave for another run!

keeping players not up to it I'm not sure is any choice of ours.

though if the fans are now seeing yoshida as decent back up and the manager is selecting mayuka from the bench, then there may be some element of that.

bar last seaon when we pretty much brought in three players, we have bought a squad, as in our first season we brought in the likes of davis to supplement our first team, and this season we brought in more players than we can accommodate in the first team to replace lallana.

maybe we should have spent half as much per player and brought in twice as many, but then we'd end up paying the same wages for any players that proved better plus still having the players that didn't work out.

i think we have a squad. it's just not a good one. I don't think we've been forced to touch the kids yet. that sounds wrong.

I know in reality it pales in comparison to what happens in the world...just wish someone would tell my heart. My mood is always affected by what happens to Saints...the difference is that as I've got older, the gloom is shorter...because we've been there before. For kids, it is harder. The problem I have now is that I genuinely get stressed during matches (because of my heart problems), so I distance myself during any important games (like yesterday). Today I'm just praying that this gets sorted out soon by the team and Koeman...SAINTDON13 is using a boat analogy, so I'm sitting here in my life jacket :)

Although some action is needed, we must be careful not to overreact. These players being criticised are the same players that we thought were great purchases at the time because we were winning. They have shown they are capable of playing well for us, so Koeman has to get them back to their previous standards and resurrect the previous levels of confidence.

We are not in a hopeless position...we are not letting in masses of goals. The problem is that one goal is enough because we can't score...that is the area that needs real attention.

FLT said it best. Feel very disappointed this morning.

Had to stay overnight as well due to the trains. In a slummy hostel.

Outside the ground was more pushing and shouting than 'fighting' when we came out.

In the quest for positives & not finding many, I'm left with just this......
Hopefully they get Chelsea in the next round......that would have made it a wasted semi because whoever Jose puts on the pitch, they look good. Too good if truth be told.

We can concentrate on the League now. :) In my depressed state, I can't see us beating Ipswich either.

I'm actually not super worried because to me this is just a confidence blip, not a case of "not good enough, never will be" or a tactically inept piece of management. Of those three, confidence is the one that'll come back through a twist of fate - a goal off Maya's backside on Saturday or something. So it's just a case of holding out until the luck turns a little.

Very disappointing performance last night. The Blades players were so up for it and our lot had no answers. Pretty crap goal for Forster to concede, but they deserved to win, so well played Sheff Utd.
Me and my son walked from the ground to the station and then got on a trans-pennine train with some Blades supporters in our carriage, and we had no problems at all. Some banter in the Burgerking at the station but all good humoured, although we were not feeling particularly humourous at the time ! Thats football - onwards & upwards, somehow.

Over the course of the last 5 games, 6 I suppose counting the Villa game, I have felt less and less suicidal as I get more and more hardened to the situation. It's times like these that make you grateful for a lifetime of supporting Saints, because we're all used to the lows as well as the highs. I know, as sure as day follows night, that things will get better, we just have to ride out the storm.

Drop in confidence leads to players wanting to take more time and touches. Look at how we started and look at us now, only difference is a few players have dropped in confidence or are knackered.

Appalling is all I can say. Only player who worked his socks off last night was Long. Deserved to lose, and a great opportunity wasted. Saturday is such a big game now.

The most annoying/dissapointing thing for me is all the pundits and fans who are all like YEAH I TOLD YOU SO when looking at this current run. The amount of Spurs/Liverpool fans who have sent me messages in the last few days lolling away at our current situation is quite amusing, perhaps we have hit the big time.

We can't blame the Liverpool and Spurs fans...we've hardly held back laughing at their problems.

However, I think the pundits have been quite reserved...certainly haven't seen any glee there.
