Wouldn't stop it, reporters don't have to give up their sources so it wouldn't stop it from coming out on the U.S. side of things. And you can't take someone to court unless you can prove they broke the nda agreement.
They don't work when it's stuff reporters want to know. It's why things are leaked all the time including classified info since reporters are constitutionally protected from having to give up their sources.
Of course they work, bigger deals than this have been done under the radar until the eleventh hour; take a look at the dot com industry. We can live in hope!
Sure if they can prove it was you. I have signed lots of them. They only work if it's something another company wants to know. If a reporter gets it off the record they can't prove you did it. They do not work in the US as the reporter is constitutionally protected from testifying you gave the info. Remember our insane gun laws we can't change due to our constitution? Same thing here. Your laws might be different but if it involves an American buying the club giving up the info to an ESPN reporter is perfectly safe.
Haha sure. We will call it a draw. There are still rumors of the family of the owner of the Tigers and red wings wanting to buy a pl club. I will see if I can find any other americans who have said the want to buy lately as well.
clearly not , as 3 happy wanderers have randomly announced the news to some random guy in a shop - point proved
It leaked two days ago that Mark Cuban is almost ready to put a bid in for a pl club. The rumor is Villa though. The owner of the 76ers is looking to buy one but the rumor is CP.
So a rumour started by a man down pub (or man working in pub speaking to man in pub) merits 2 pages of speculation does it?
I put it up because I wanted to know if anybody else had heard anything, it also didn't seem right not to mention it as it could potentially be very important. I mean, people from the club read these pages, we know RH definitely read these pages, who's to say it couldn't provoke a response (not likely, but you never know)? Somebody in the know could turn round and confirm it, I just wanted to put it out there to see if it had legs. If it turns out to be Grade A Bullshit, then fair enough, but I'm not going to find anything out by keeping it to myself am I?
The last time rumours of a sale started circulating it prompted that jibber jabbering car crash of a press conference intended to 'clear the air' Hopefully theres another one, I've never laughed so much in years.
I do like Dr Allam Newland. I like him, admire and respect him as well as being hugely grateful to him. Not the fake admiration and gratitude displayed by anyone who is a member of CTWD (and especially the chairman of that den of vipers), this is genuine. I would rather see him walk away and leave us to whatever we deserve in all honesty. He stepped in at a time that no one else would. None of our local businessmen. No fans groups. No one. Some gobshites claim he did it to make money, but that's so far from the truth, it's laughable. No one buys a football club, or rescues one, to make their fortune. Unless they want to make their fortune smaller. His motives and decisions have been questioned at every juncture, despite his having brought the club from the precipice of utter destruction, to one thats run much more efficiently and sensibly that it has ever been. He's been vilified and lampooned and frankly, he deserves better. Much better. A small, but noisy minority have decided the direction of the club. These "fans" revel in mediocrity. They celebrate and supposedly fight for over a century of .... **** all. Zero success. Zero trophies. Our history is frankly ****ing depressing. They seem to enjoy being looked down on. I think they mostly just want to relive the glory days of fighting in bars in Wales, or meeting other "firms" for a proper fight. You can read all about their reminiscing on their own little cesspit called CI. They'll be more than happy to see us playing in league two, with gates of 500. They don't actually give 2 ****s about the club, the city or the other 20k+ fans. All they care about is themselves, and their egos, and they desperately want to cling on to their own personal glory days. I suspect it's because they mostly never amounted to much. Now, I'm hardly a glory supporter. I'm almost 50 years old and have supported this club my entire life. Same as my dad. Well he's older of course... I've followed this team to some right **** holes, and I've seen them at Wembley. I want us to succeed. I want us to defy expectations. But, with the way CTWD, Retired Hoolies from CI etc want us run, that'll never happen. We mustn't break the traditional mould or role for teams such as us. How very darer we even think that. How very dare we dream. The PL and in fact most other leagues like the Status Quo. Some teams are eternal, and make them shed loads of money. The rest are cannon fodder. That, for them, is fine. It's what they're meant to be. Ok the odd time you might see one of these pretenders climb a bit, but by the end of the season, normal service is resumed. The only reason I did get to see my team at Wembley in an FA Cup final was down to Dr Allam. This is in a nutshell why I admire and respect Dr Allam and why I despise CTWD.
Let's start the thread again everyone say they have heard the same thing and watch an HDM article go out tomorrow morning and your press conference start that evening.
With FFP unless new owners gifted money to the club things wouldn't be changed really that much for the better would they?
I like that. They don't give two ****s, but will still come and be among the 500 who watch us in the doldrums, rather than amongst the 20-odd thousand who've ****ed off to support Liverpool or Man Utd...
Well, let me put that into a bit of perspective for you fella. First of all, I've been going to City since I was about 5. The first game I remember was Scarbrough at home and we lost, as I recall. I grew up surrounded by Leeds, Liverpool and Man U fans, I was one of about 4 from my year group who went to City regularly, others only went when they handed out free tickets. City have been in my family for 3 generations at least, so between myself, my brother, my father and my late grandfather(s), we like to think we're pretty loyal fans. When Allam took over, it was an immensly happy moment for myself and, as I imagine, many other City fans. Our club had been saved, we weren't going to plummet through the leagues and there was even money for some signings. He was rightly heralded as a saviour for the club, but while we might have had to do a Portsmouth had he not come in, I don't think it would've been oblivion. Something more akin to Bradford or Oldham would've been more likely. I was very unhappy to see Nick Barmby sacked, I don't think any other fans were too happy about it, given that the reasons weren't really brilliant. Given what has happened since it looks like the right move, but it doesn't take away from the fact that a club legend was treated very, very badly when he didn't really have to do anything, he could've remained a player and waited for somebody else to take the reigns. That for me, didn't go down well. It didn't erase what had been done, how could it, Allam had still put money in and still funded us, but it doesn't make his handling of the Barmby situation any more palatable. The name change has obviously caused some rifts through the fans. Believe it or not, there are some people out there who aren't in CTWD, but still want the club to remain the same. This attitude by some fans of "it doesn't matter what he does, it's his club and he put the money in" is, for me, not an acceptable stance. It sets a precedence that owners can simply do what they like as long as they stump up a small part of their considerable fortune. Allam genuinely doesn't seem to understand what the football club means to some people and while everybodies love of football varies, I think even he would hold his hands up and admit he has a certain detatchment from the club's fan base. It stung when it came out that it was his plan to change the name, because there was no consultation with the fans, the people who put money into the club, the reason the team actually plays. If there were 0 fans there every week, what'd be the point of the team playing? If nobody actually watched football ever again, it would cease to continue. Most business that exist within a public domain require public interest. In order to keep those people onside, the businesses occasionally have think tanks, research projects and meetings in order to find out what their customers (that's what we are, by the way, customers of Hull City) want. There's been very little to none of this happening, it feels like we've had to enforce this upon the club because if we didn't, nothing would happen. Nobody wants mediocrity, the very idea is absurd. The general consensus around the fan base, I imagine, is that it'd be a bit daft to be called Hull Tigers, because a) it sounds astronomically **** and b) it totally tramples on the one part of a football club that identifies itself to it's market. Some people aren't going to speak up about it because, hell, they might not want to, but others are doing, because they aren't happy and are afraid that if they don't, Allam will just change it anyway. And if it's just a name, then what's next? A change of kit colour? A move to somewhere that makes more money because Hull isn't a fashionable enough City? We are setting the standard not just for Hull City AFC, but for the whole of football, that owners cannot simply smash a bank card down on the table as if that justifies any mad ideas he comes up with. Our history isn't exactly rife with success, but it's still our history and stands as a proud marker as to where we have come from. it might be "depressing" to you, but that's your opinion. I get joy from seeing the team win matches, if those matches give us trophies, fair play, but be realistic, we're a top end Championship club trying to establish ourselves as a PL team. It's ****ing well difficult and it'll take babysteps, it'll probably get worse before it gets better but we'll get there. But we need to get there together. That's the owners, the fans and the team all working together to push the club on, not being divided on stupid decisions that really don't make sense. The reason you got to see your team in an FA Cup final was because of Steve Bruce's management and the player's concerted efforts. Allam has been a chequebook so far, which is nothing to be ungrateful for and I don't think disagreement should be confused with ingratitude. Had Allam not taken over, who's to say we couldn't have dropped a few Leagues, worked our way back up and got to one in the future? Sheffield Utd got to the semi final last season from League 1, Bradford got to the League Cup final a few years back, Portsmouth won the FA Cup and got to a final, do you think they put that down to their respective owners? Somehow I doubt it. There's a lot to respect of Mr Allam's generosity, he gave money that he didn't have to in order to save a club that he never really felt he had a connection with. He did it as a gift to the fans and to the city. That can be applauded, I can't argue with that. But then making rash, non-sensical decisions is something that a lot of fans aren't going to agree with. I'm a member of CTWD and I don't want to see us sitting in the doldrums of the lower leagues, I want to see us moving forward. But how can we push forward when our owner is totally out of touch with the fans, both new and old? Appealing to some kid on the streets of China is fine, but when you can't please those that live a stonesthrow away from the stadium, doesn't that tell you he's doing something wrong? Is it not possible for somebody so benevolent to also be capable of putting their foot in it? I don't blindly disagree with everything he's done, nor do many of the CTWD members, you just seem to have this odd viewpoint that they're trying to bring down everything he's worked to do, which he isn't. We're trying to stop him changing our name, among other things.
