Agree there Doey, I wish he had let it go too, and swallowed his pride. But let me put this to you all, so that you can get some perspective here, if Ronaldo had said publicly that he wanted to sign another contract with Manu, do you think that the chairman of Manu would have come out with, 'All contract talks are off' ?? not in a million years would that have happened, and why because he was too important a player for Manu, and there would certainly be other clubs forming an orderly queue, as there was with Pratley, I know for definite there were three before we entered the play-off race, and they were Bolton, Forest, and Liecester...........

It seems the mental block was something pratley was suffering with as well Phil, he was offered a very good contract, he refused it, why didn't he sign it if he wanted to stay at the club? The reason like Dorus is the sign on fee at their new clubs! Basically the club all it was prepared to do, that is their choice not ours!

Very selective when you are wrong Dai, come back with all the facts mate you will be believed! He has gone on record and lied about the Bolton move, he's been going for months!

Yes but it was all too little, and too late Jager, Pratley had already decided by then he was not wanted, and started looking else where, and that's a crying shame to let such a good player like that go, we don't need to unsettle our own best players Jager, isn't it enough to contend with, that agents and other clubs poaching and unsettling our players, than to add to it ourselves!..............

    So come on phil

Now don't tell me it was to little to late, he basically didn't want to stay at the club, no matter what was offered!

“I would like to make it clear that my decision is not motivated by money because the financial package Swansea put to me was fantastic. I am a man of principles though and I have been left disappointed by how long it took the club to offer me a new contract. “I publicly made it clear last Christmas that I wished to extend my contract with Swansea as soon as possible. The former manager Paulo Sousa was aware of this and tried to get me a new deal, but nothing came forward from chairman Huw Jenkins. “I continued to ask for a new deal, but Mr Jenkins then said this summer that he was not in a rush to offer me one. I was disappointed with that stance and it made me reconsider my future. “As soon as Brendan Rodgers took over he made it clear he saw me as a key player and the club finally made me an offer in writing last Thursday, two days before the start of the season. As I have said, Swansea offered me a great deal, but I felt it was too late. - Darren Pratley

Seems to me, we were far from business like, and shot ourselves in the foot, if you want to believe he did not want to sign whatsoever, then that's your prerogative, but I don't see it at all like that!...............

Darren had been a superb servant & player to our club, but has now moved on. That's where it stands with me. He's moved on & we should move on. All I want is players who want to play for Swansea City. Where there's a will, there's a way. If he really wanted to stay with Swansea City, he would have done. Thanks Darren, but now your in the past.
Dorus, well, enjoy your struggle at Wolves. Swansea City gave you Premier league football & you deserted us. No need to say anymore!!
The reason I don't include Pratley, in my opinon in that Swansea City delivered Premier league to DeVries, is that he was always struggling to hold down a regular place in the last season anyway, due to Dobbie.....

Dragon...I don't really understand what your trying to say though, because for the life of me I can't think of any motives for Huw Jenks not to want to sign Pratley up as soon as possible - which includes it being in the best interests of the club. You don't know everything that goes on inside the club, you may know some. But can you tell me Huws reasons?
He's a good chairman, and whatever he does, it's in the interest of the club. Sometimes he has to make tough decisions, and unpopular decisions, but it is for that reason we are in the premier league and in financial stability.
    So stop having a go!

So trying to negotiate a new deal before the start of last season is to late for pratley, sorry that's crap if he wanted to stay he would have, he had 11 months to sign a contract, he could have secured his immediate future with us!

Now he has come out with this fabrication of an interview and blame the swans for the fact that his signing on fee at bolton had been agreed months ago, and was going anyway, I appreciate his services to us, but I don't like the fact that he thinks we are bloody stupid.

Pratley wasn't impressed with the way a section of fans booed players over the years , he was less impressed when it happened to him . When he got booed is the moment he knew he was leaving IMO !!

It's obvious why no deal was offered before Rogers came in, Clearly as Sousa was going to be dumped they wanted to let the new manager decide for himself. Frankly it's a pretty weak excuse from Pratley.

Wouldn't surprise me and I wouldn't blame him for that. We have a lot of idiots who believe being off-form means a player is not trying.

But I thought Forest had already signed him FACT!

Let's be honest about this, we all suspected he would go as soon as he pulled that "shirt-waving" stunt back in September. He's been a good player for us over the years (at times a VERY good player) but he was 2nd fiddle to Dobbie last year. And now he's gone, so goodbye and good luck, you'll need a neck brace at Bolton next year because the ball will be flying over your head most of the time.

I read somewhere Jenkins saying that contracts have been dealt with as they have last season because of the way the clubs budget was. Last season we had a budget for the Championship and if we had extended deals it would have hampered new signings. Jenkins went on to point out that Fabio Borini is a classic example. If we had extended Darrens contract maybe we wouldn't have been able to afford Borini and we wouldn't be in the Pemier League.

I read that on the club website today, to be honest it doesn't surprise me , Jenkins runs a tight ship and will not risk it for anyone, I am happy with that! I don't want us to do a hull , they were a club in no debts going up, coming down they are in a state!
