I think whilst the FA are not prepared to deal with this, each individual club should be doing so, making examples of diving and being proactive about it.

I wouldn't suggest they ban the players, because that causes all kinds of problems behind the scenes, but give them a 'community service' type discipline. Whereby they have to spend their day off working with the junior ranks amongst the club and generally helping out around the place. The sooner the modern footballer can show a little humility, the sooner the bridge will be repaired between player and fan.

Diving needs cut out of the game, but the FA cannot do anything with regards to bans yet, as there's a grey area. A player is more than entitled to anticipate a foul and dive out of the way, until such a time when the ref can determine whether it was a con-trick or a genuine attempt to avoid being hurt, there's gonna be no bans or fines, just bookings.

I think you will be very close to going down if you keep Bruce.

If we keep getting decisions like that on Saturday then i would probably agree with you.

Either way, I will be there regardless of whether we stay up or not.

IMO if you don't get a striker in January I think you will be close to the relegation spots too.

It's more a CM, but we will be close if we don't get the right person in, I agree 100%.

I'm more worried about where strikers chances are going to come from. Conner and Fletch can get the goals. We need a creator and pace.

All teams get bad decisions tho. We do need a forward, a midfield what can creat & with abit of pace to. if we get that them we be fine.

I can accept bad decisions, refs have split seconds to make decisions and they will make mistakes.
What I can't accept is when a ref decides not to book someone because they have previously been booked. ie Cahill on saturday.

What I love about being in the premier league is the exposure our team gets.
What I hate about the premier league is the cheating that goes on.
From a footballing point of view I actually prefer the Championship.
Bruce usually says win 10 games in the premier league and it virtually guarantees you stay up. So, in effect, what he is saying is win 1 game in 4. I go to see my team win in every game regardless of opposition, but he says just win 1 in 4.
So, what he is saying is we've no f*****g chance of winning most games. My view on that is why the hell do we bother then.

Serious question to you guys. You get great crowds week in week out but you are a million miles off finishing in the top 6. So, are you happy that you remain in the premier league year in year out but have no chance of winning it. Or would you like to see a russian or arab take your club over and take you to the next level. ie chelsea and ManCity?

Apologies for rattling on but every week I get more pissed off how our game is being ruined by money and corruption/cheating.

    Time for bed I think.

    cheers lads

we have a billionaire chairman who has a plan, its a working progress under poyet, we failed under bruce, failed under o'neill, failed under di'canio, last chance saloon for us, if we get sucked in this time we are gone, if gus can do his thing we'll finish a comfortable mid-table and kick on

10 draws out of 16 games is a solid but scary start

We've got a billionaire owner fella. But he's a business man, a proper business man. He wants to run us in the black, something I'm very grateful for as I don't want us to become the next team to be financially ruined. We're very lucky.

Sooner or later for the good of the game financial rules will come into play which will level the playing field. Those who are run correctly will benefit most. In the mean time I'm happy to be ran correctly and my beloved club safe from administrators. Am I happy to settle for winning nothing? Of course. I don't no any different. <ok>

    I don't think that's gonna happen, ever.

It would be against the law for a start, any good lawyer would take FIFA to the cleaners if they attempted to impose financial restrictions on any club operating in the black, they have no right to interfere with a PLC for example, shareholders would be screwed by an authority that has no business interfering in a financial market, totally unrelated to sport.

Wage caps won't happen for the same reason, businesses need to 'speculate to accumulate' and any restrictions imposed would be laughed at by a proper legal team.

Cheating is not only at PL level mate - I coach my sons team (He's 10) and it happens there. I played pub football until a few years ago - it happens there. I occasionally get to Victoria park (Hartlepool) and it happens there. Been to the scottish 2nd division and english leagues when working away (I always try to take in a game) and it happens everywhere. The PL isn;t to blame - the clubs at every level are.

Johnson's penalty at the weekend was very soft - but he got an arm in the back from the defender and went down - nowhere near as bad as the panelty given against us in the first game of the season but we get labelled and the lad from West Brom gets nothing. What's worse is when you see the Southampton decision on Fletcher where the keeped took him out with the ball trickling on the 6 yard line. Red card and penalty all day long but no-one says anything about that. Cahill's dive was horrendous - regardless of that I still think Chelsea would've beaten you but the dive was disgraceful. The ref set his stall out early with those decisions then changed his mind when it came to having to send someone off for it. Had it been Elmohamady or one of your lot, chances are he'd have sent him off.

I think the Elomohamady or Hull player would have been sent off. The media have this thing where they employ their puppets to say well it evens itself out over a season. It simply does not and you must wonder if the refs are rewarded to constantly give decisions to the likes of Chelsea and man city.

I take your point about the cheating at all levels. However, in my experience the Premier league is the creme de la creme of cheating. It is obviously down to the exposure that we appear to see more cheating in the PL but yeah you are right about all levels.

Totally unrelated, but how much do away fans get charged at the SOL?

They put it on the TV mate, you don't have to go.

BTW, Meyler's stamp on Januzaj went unpunished, you were more than lucky to get away with that.

    Swings and roundabouts innit.

I meant watching football from overseas, not actually travelling overseas.
Meyler should have been punished by the ref...I have no problem with that.
My initial post said about the ref ignoring a blatant dive by Cahill because he had previously been booked, it was not on the in/outs of this player fouled that player.

I will beg to differ on the swings and roundabouts bit.

was it the club or his absolute ridicule from players ,pundits and fans alike ,whatever or whoever it seems as its worked not one dive from him.
