I have heard it all now! Although you must agree with Taarabt, just a bit rich.

I need quotes. I can't believe even our temperamental toddler could be dim-witted enough to say that.

‘He has a strong shot but he doesn’t play for the team.'
'Or if he does, then he doesn’t score which is the case now with Liverpool.'
‘He had a lot of chances, from Manchester City to Milan, and he threw them all away.’

It's all a bit odd really. Why would Taarabt feel the need to attack Balotelli? A bit of journalistic sensationalism I suspect.

It was an interview on Italian TV, hardly room for journalistic sensationalism there.

He really is poorly advised, isn't he? As well as being thick.

Any luck we'll give him to Milan on a free in January.

    What a waste.

Everyone (without rose tinted specs) will look at his lack of effort to prove Harry (or anyone else) wrong and see him for a bad egg. We won't get money for him he'll just go at the end of his contract.

I think he might have a point there though.

What I cannot understand is why Harry Redknapp is not talking Adel Taarrabt up in the way that Tony Fernandes was doing back in the summer. If I was Harry, I'd be putting out some little communications at each press conference, scene-setting ahead of his return:

"Yes, he's a triffic lad when he's fit.... looking forward to welcoming him back to the first team.... it'll be like a new signing.... incredible talent, now's the time to showcase this.... lost his way a bit, but looking to support him and get him back to his best.... great talent to have at our disposal.... unpredictable talent, great at keeping the opposition guessing.... what we need when we play the bigger teams...." etc, etc

All of this would feed Adel's ego, and get the fellow motivated and raring to go.

That would be because Redknapp is more interested in his own ego than Taarabt's. If Taarabt did get back in the team (absolutely no chance) and tore up the Prem, Redknapp would look like a tit. A particularly unattractive tit, in need of extensive cosmetic surgery.

I was chatting about this with my sister and I was playing devils advocate but I said to her, the alleged togetherness in the squad may actually stem from the fact that they are all being treated the same and the massaging of Adel's ego was something that was creating the discord. Just another way to look at it.

Harry missed a great opportunity to do this without losing face last night.

"Well, he's asked me to pick him, the SKY camera's are here, and he's named in the 25, so I've said to the lad, go out there, put this stuff behind you and show us what you can do.... that's all I can do, ask him to put a shift in.... he's been no trouble in training this week, triffic lad, now looking for him to help us out, especially with Charlie suspended" etc, etc.

From what Redknapp is saying the implication is that boy is feigning injury. I would assume that we can simply cancel his contract if the medical team confirm this - if he is making himself unavailable for selection when fit, or deliberately not training when not injured. He is a worse than a worthless asset now, he costs us £65k a week, allegedly.

On the pitch and trying Taarabt is exactly what I love about football. But I am sick to death of this and the only way out is to get rid, as soon as. Milan played a blinder in the summer, our owners were mugged and will now have to offload him for nothing.

I still think there's more to come from the lad in a hooped jersey. As such, I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is 'ordinary', says QPR misfit Adel Taarabt

The Moroccan has not been impressed by the Italy striker

    Agency

    Tuesday 16 December 2014

Mario Balotelli has been branded "ordinary" and a player who has repeatedly wasted great career opportunities by former team-mate Adel Taarabt.

The accusations came on a day when Inter Milan played down prospects of the striker leaving Liverpool to join them in January.

Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti takes a different view to Taarabt - labelling Balotelli "a great player" - but the Italians believe recruiting the 24-year-old during the winter could be unrealistic.

Balotelli has struggled since moving to Anfield at the end of the summer transfer window and Inter are keen to strengthen their attacking line.

However Zanetti told Sky Italia: "A Balotelli return? We all know Mario is a great player but I think it's difficult because he only just arrived at Liverpool.

"In any case, after our game against Lazio (on December 21) we will hold meetings to see what we can do and what is needed in terms of the (transfer) market."

Balotelli has scored only two goals in his 14 appearances for Liverpool, and QPR playmaker Taarabt, who played with him while on loan at AC Milan last season, does not see the Italy international as a top quality forward.

Speaking to Italian TV channel Sky Italia, Taarabt said: "Balotelli? Everyone told me he was amazing and I played with him and I can say he is strong but he didn't seem to me as though he was world class.

"He is an ordinary player, not a phenomenon."

Taarabt added: "He is someone who has a strong shot but he doesn't play for the team. And if he does, he doesn't score as is the case right now at Liverpool.

"He's had so many chances, from (Manchester) City to Milan, and he's thrown them away."

A return to the San Siro would see Balotelli reunited with Roberto Mancini, who coached Balotelli at Inter and Manchester City.

Mancini, who took the reins at Inter last month for a second spell in charge, revealed after Monday's 2-0 triumph at Chievo that he was keen to bolster his attack.

"In certain roles in attack we are lacking," Mancini told Gazzetta dello Sport. "The club are aware of this but in January it will not be easy."

Balotelli came through the ranks at Inter before being sold to Manchester City in 2010.

He joined Liverpool in a £16million move from AC Milan but as well as lacking form, he has missed a number of games with a groin injury and was recently charged by the Football Association over a controversial posting on Instagram.

Balotelli has accepted the charge in relation to making racist and anti-Semitic comments on social media but has offered mitigation for his actions. He posted an image of computer game character Super Mario on Instagram which included the words "jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew".

I was half hoping he was just misinterpreted. Another display of idiocy to add to the growing collection.
