Agreed. No way should he be in a top 10 like this. Plus, he was not as good when he arrived at our ground as when he was playing at his previous clubs. We were his last pay day, and allegedly, he didn't even need the money too. Sadly you just can't say anything against St Nick without the angry brigade foaming up.
Missed most of the 90s then. This is a lazy list. Someone like Belaid has no right being on it. A nothing to lose gamble on a short term contract. And if you're going for loans and short term deals then Mark Yeates every time.
Doubt it. But I wouldn't put loan players on the list in the first place. If we're talking value for money then McLean was poor. We paid top dollar for him to score goals.
Appleby left us after the 2003/04 season, so as that's just over ten season back, I assume he didn't qualify.
My ten best from the last 10 years without too much thought and in no real order: Rosenior Chester Turner Windass Davies Koren Geovanni Barmby Campbell Okocha There's a couple of dodgy ones on there, and probably Okocha was one that could have been, but him and Folan signing changed everyone's belief in the promotion season that we were going to be serious contenders at the end of the season, even if no one really expected it to finish as well as it did. Barmby has to be on the list, not only for what he achieved on the pitch, but the fact that we'd signed a Premier League regular for the last ten odd years with plenty of England caps and he was dropping all the way down to League 1 to play for us. Again, his signing helped to transform the belief amongst the fans that we were on the up that year I think. EDIT: Forgot about Geovanni, so he takes Leon Cort's place.
Wummins so easy isn't it ? Just slate everything the majority like, and praise everything the majority don't like....Bingo
Suggesting Amos is harsh in the extreme. He wasn't the best keeper we've ever had, but to have him anywhere near a list like this is daft really.
best/influentual in no particular order folan chester windass koren barmby turner garcia elmo ***an rosenior no loan signings
Barmby would easily be in the top 10 best signings , helped to transform the club . Anybody who can't see that wasn't really paying attention
I wonder if Michael Bridges could be classed as one of the Top 10 for worst signings. Such promise but only 2 goals, and ended up in Australia.
Agree with that. I remember the buzz of excitement when first the rumours of him signing then having it confirmed. I'm a little surprised by the lack of Elliott, Ashbee and Price in these top player lists.
