As a bit of fun here is my team selection taken from the 04/05 squad and the present day! Kelvin Davis Wilnis De Vos Berra Mings Currie Hyam Bishop Magilton Bent Kuqi Bench Goldy Murphs Chambers Tabb Miller
Hardworking and did score a fair few goals but for me Goldy is the much better footballer I'd probably have Murph ahead of him to. If you could have Kugi's work rate and Counago's skill then you'd have a player imo.
Kuqi average at best!??!?! Weighty, Kuqi put himself about tonnes for us and scored tonnes. Funny in the 04/05 season he was our for 3 games, 1 point, then played when half fit away at Wigan when it fell to pieces............ Currie was a decent addition to that side too. Kuqi and Bent v McGoldrick and Murphy. Interesting!
If you had Kuqi's workrate to match Counago's skill, Pablo would have played for a BIG BIG side and we'd have never got him is one thing I can throw back at you. How about Kuqi's skill and Pablo's workrate!?
I've gone for Kuqi & Bent simply down to their goal output! In terms of overall player ability then I think Goldy should get ahead of both but you are measured by goals as a Striker!
Can't see anymore obvious objections ....I'd probably have Smith over Chambers.....looking at both squads there is not a lot in it imo.
Nice team. Personally, I'd opt for a 3-5-2 formation and take advantage of our centre backs. Bit of a workmanlike team, but imagine that team on the counter. GK: Kelvin Davis CB: Jason De Vos CB: Christophe Berra CB: Tommy Smith RWB: Fabian Wilnis LWB: Tyrone Mings CM: Luke Hyam CM: Jim Magilton AM: Teddy Bishop ST: Daryl Murphy ST: Darren Bent Bench: GK: Bialkowski DF: Luke Chambers DF: Jonathan Parr MF: Tommy Miller MF: Darren Currie FW: David McGoldrick FW: Shefki Kuqi
McCarthy v Royle, wow what a question!!!!! God that's tough. On one hand, Royle would get this side flowing one hell of a lot more and the defensive base is already made. McCarthy would have shored up various Royle sides in years gone by, and taken advantage of the talent he has in his side. Both managers in my eyes have done absolutely wonders on sod all budget. Royle's most expensive buy was Currie @ £250,000, McCarthy's Wordsworth. No idea who is better, very 50-50 to me. Both have pro / cons. Weirdly, I wonder if we swapped Royle forward 10 years, and McCarthy back 10 years if they wouldn't have done a slightly better job than their adversary!?
Look good sides them above. How about a Royle RUBBISH 11 and McCarthy RUBBISH 11? Royle would feature the likes of Proudlock, Parkin, Diallo from the top of my head. McCarthy Bradley Orr, Nouble, Loach!
