do you know what, i'm really starting to wonder whether anybody ever reads my posts all the way through or just pick out the bits they don't like and forget about the rest!!

    taken from my initial post:

"once redmond came on and wes after him, we played as a team, had a better balance and showed our true potential. these players are more than capable of tearing teams apart in this division. we saw it second half at cardiff and we saw it on saturday."

    "the potential is there."

"that’s two wins on the bounce - just what the doctor ordered! let’s take this into next weeks clash and i genuinely believe if we can emulate that second half we will take all three points from the ipro. and if we do, we are right back in the mix and the mood around the club will surely have been lifted going into the tough christmas period."

now ok, i was infuriated, just as everybody inside carrow road was, with the total lack of any kind of quality in the first half and i'm sorry but yes - it was very obvious to all how to fix it to every person in the ground - BUT we won 5-0, adams and co made the right decision (albeit took longer than most felt necessary) and we blew huddersfield away with an excellent second half performance and i mentioned positives in my initial post, even though everyone just ignored them and focused on the '5 year old' thing which was taken completely out of context as a stick to beat me with rather than actually see what i was saying.

the issue i have had all along is that we should definitely be doing better with the players we have. much, much better. we haven't played as a team on nearly enough occasions, we've lacked creativity, we've lacked width, we've made a total hash of a number of home games which had we not, would have seen us in a more positive league position. in fact, we should really be top - we're good enough to be top and this league is absolutely there for the taking yet i keep seeing elementary errors from management through to players. cut some of them out and we'll get promoted with adams at the helm.

that's what we all want, isn't it? i think we can win at the ipro on saturday. if we do, we are right back in the mix and it will put a marker down to all the other sides that finally we might be getting our act together. we've got wes back, odjidja-ofoe back, ryan bennett back. cuellar is in decent form. olsson is looking livelier. hooper is fit. i'm not trying to bicker with anyone, i'm just saying what my heart says when i watch my team - i want the same thing as all of you - promotion. unfortunately i've not seen nearly enough evidence to suggest we will get promotion with the current manager. that's up to me and if you feel differently that's up to you. but we need to get on a run and after before the wigan game i said i wanted 6 points from the next two games and a result at derby - we're on the way!

Fair enough Supers, I agree with nearly all that, but it's definitely not how the original post I referred to framed it - I highlighted your quotes for you and it was not just the 5yo comment, though admittedly that was the one that got people riled even when you may well not have intended it as such. So the accusation that I didn't see what you were saying I won't accept, because I went through pretty much every point in your post over the course of my two.

I do however categorically disagree with "(albeit took longer than most felt necessary)" not least because many (if not most) on this thread don't seem to feel that way, but I accept that there are a couple of posters who agree with you on that one (and in the heat of the moment all the booers at half time), so we're just going to have to agree to disagree there.

I am not asking for unbridled positivity. Clearly there is still massive amounts of work to do. I was just astonished that you (and not just you) seemed intent upon painting a 5-0 win in a broadly negative way, particularly given your historical attitude to Hughton. And I was equally astonished that you were critical of a solid first half performance when it's obvious to many other posters on here why we have had to go back to basics, ugly as it may be.

I will say, though, that I definitely think, irrespective of which side of the coin you are on with Adams, that we are all aiming in the same direction and that for the vast majority of the disagreement it's just a question of interpretation based on how full your glass is. <ok>

I don't know if you were at the game Rob but I'm astonished you called the first half 'solid'. It was atrocious. That's why they got booed. People were literally screaming at them to get some width! Two blokes near me left at half time it was so bad. More fool them because football is a funny old game and as bad as the first half was, the second was a lot of fun!! It merely highlighted what these players are capable of and as I said before, also highlighted how frustrating the majority of this season has been. There's a very good side in there somewhere, itching to get out. Hopefully it'll show its face for 90 minutes at Derby because if it does we'll win the game.

Sorry I wasn't clear - I meant solid purely in terms of it being structured and organised defensively (albeit that Ruddy did have to produce a couple of very good saves). That was the priority based on recent weeks IMO, sorting out our defensive structure. One of the things I accepted about Hughton until it got too late. Plenty of commentary made it clear the first half was dreadful in terms of style, as a spectacle and in terms of our ability to pass properly, but it wasn't as if we definitely deserved to go in at half time behind.

Off topic here, but not worth a new thread.

Tweet from 5live on Everton v QPRcelona.

    Still Everton 0-0 QPR.

And it's HOW many years? <doh>

My opening post I meant to write that I would prefer Saints to get a Europa League spot instead of a "big" club, but I typed "bug" club instead.

And that was the beginning of the end of my dreams of a multitonning thread. Before it had even got going.
