They seem to think he is disorganised rather than organised. The fact he asked for an IS flag suggests that...if organised, he would have taken one in with him. Shows that he is just trying to attach himself to the IS cause rather than be part of a plan.
The police say the siege is over, so I reckon they believe it is unlikely. He doesn't seem to be a terrorist, but a criminal with a massive chip on his shoulder.
One hostage dead, hostage taker dead, one police man in serious condition and 3 hostages in serious condition according to Sky. I hope all pull through.
I admire your optimism, but I think it's probably too late for the dead hostage and the hostage taker.
They are saying that the hostage was killed before the police went in, so that must have been what started the attack.
Saying that some hostages running for it may have angered the gunman...can't blame them though. I think we would all run for it if given the chance.
3 dead including Hostage taker. One man and one women aged under 40 dead (RIP). 4 others seriously injured.
Inevitable that something like this would happen eventually. edit: There's parallels with the Chris Morris movie Four Lions tbh.
The hostage taker was crazy...there was no way this could end without him dying or totally giving in. If he only wanted to die as a martyr, he would have started killing at the beginning. The police were hopeful of a happy outcome because terrorist attacks always start with violence. What could he have possibly wanted?
Might be something a media guy would think...but surely would never say. Murdoch is separated from any sense of humanity. Reminds me of that reporter on Drop the Dead Donkey.
