Report: Stoke’s Peter Crouch targeted by survival hopefuls QPR and Crystal Palace

    By Ryan Hill

    Posted on December 14, 2014

The Sunday Express is reporting that QPR and Crystal Palace are to battle it out for the signature of Stoke City’s Peter Crouch in January.

Crouch, who is out of contract at the Britannia Stadium in the summer, isn’t out of favour with manager Mark Hughes, but the powers that be at the club are unwilling to offer the gangly 33-year-old striker a new deal.

Stoke City reportedly contact Arsenal over Joel Campbell January transfer

With players getting 10% of any money paid for them in a permanent transfer, Crouch may well consider his options in January instead of waiting to leave as a free agent in the summer, while Stoke may also want to recoup even a little of the club-record £10m they paid Tottenham Hotspur for him in 2011.

While Neil Warnock openly admits he is looking for a target man to aid Palace’s push for survival, QPR boss Harry Redknapp has worked with Crouch on four previous occasions, which could end up being a factor in where Crouch ends up.

Crouch has won 90 aerial duels so far this season, more than any other player in the Premier League.

Yes for me, on a short contract and reasonable wages. I doubt Stoke will let him go

What part of short contract and reasonable wages would be attractive to 33 year old Peter Crouch? He'll want a minimum 2 and a half year contract, it's probably his last one.

Remember we have all been told by Harold that he has his targets and research all done prior to the windows
The Chile boys to his credit look very good who is next?
It's a right mess and IMO has really buggered up what a QPR fan should be like
Flyer knew this to his credit and I find myself more and more disillusioned with the team i have loved all my life
I pray for the day Harold retires

We need two crucial things - an aging Man U star (probably to replace Rio) and a tried and tested striker that Arry knows well. My money's is on Jaap Stam and Paulo Di Canio.

I reckon several more back room staff are needed including the pivotal Director of Coffee Development and someone that can motivate Steve Black to motivate the team. Perhaps also someone to give Arry scalp massages throughout those trying press conferences.

2 years would be acceptable. He's still a lively, creative player and doesn't seem particularly injury prone. As I say, I think this talk is academic. I doubt he'll be moving anywhere, and certainly not in January to a relegation rival to Stoke

Crouch is playing as well as he ever has, has 5 premier league goals to his name this season, easily has two years or more left in his legs (pace not being an issue) so it would be a big yes from me. However it is in the Express.

Agreed it probably all balls but if he's out of contract in the summer they may want to cash in.

Blimey - bit quiet on the news front? Let's trot out the old Harry and Crouchie story - is it silly season?
