The only thing that I agree with is that your team is really really s**t. I honestly cannot think where your next win is coming from. Neville giving de gea MOTM was not accurate IMO. De gea made good saves but the shots were really poor. Sterling was particular poor with his chances and tagliatelle was no better. Every time united attacked I felt they could score. Yes their defence is really uncertain but the team keeps winning. And I could see it winning the next few matches. Are they firing on all cylinders? No. Can they improve ? Yes. But even I have to accept that winning 6 out of 6 whilst playing s**t with THAT defence takes some doing. But what it does highlight how poor Brenda is as a manager and how all the credit given to the RS last season was given to the wrong individual. It was ALL the Rat's doing...
Last season was a completely different story, Yoda. We had a manager that drained confidence out of the whole club. Watching his press conferences alone would have made me fire him if I was his boss at OT. LVG is class!!! And players definitely respond to him. And for the record, we played together with same set of players from last season but with a completely different approach and mentality.
Well done guys, a deserved win although we should maybe of nicked a goal or so. Can't argue with 6 in a row
You really cant. Some will continue to try but they just look like idiots. Weve had some luck, good and bad but its how you deal with the bad luck and about taking your chances that counts. The confidence at united is immense. Cannot stress how important it is for any club. Fair play bow and many of you pool fans btw.
Hardly any of the players that LVG has spent a fortune on played today. I don't think any of them started actually. It just goes to further prove just how important confidence is in football
I totally get the sentiment, but you're looking at it a bit simply. Had you had last year#s attack, would we have lined up like we did today? For starters, would we have gone 3 at the back or started with Wilson? Very unlikely. Who knows how the game would have gone, and that's about as much as anyone can say. Also, adding to what others have said, had we had Di Maria, Rafael and Shaw on the pitch, it would have been a heck of a lot more convincing. I guess, that is what looks promising for us this season.
Has Astro gone into meltdown?? Great result. Still think we look dodgy. Liverpool could and should have scored a couple today. They opened us up on a number of occasions.. I by no means think we are anything near to the force we once were but there are positives as some have pointed out that we can only get better after our injured players come back. Main thing I got out of today's game was we can't keep the ball very well, fellani is definitely ****, gerrard is worse than fellani and I didn't realise he was playing.
Sure. LVG's thinking is around the expectation. Despite the defenders falling like ninepins he expects his team to win and he sets out to win first. Then the performance. No doubt the players he brought can only improve the team: I want di Maria back into the team. That will provide pace and unpredictability. Blind coming back will provide some solidity in midfield. As I say this team can only improve with time.
1) Fellaini will occasionally win a tackle (plus point) 2) When he doesn't win a tackle it will either be a foul, OR he will give away possession. 3) Fellaini will always face back to his own goal, whether receiving a pass or playing a pass (negative) 4) Even if he wins a tackle or receives the ball, he will either give away possession with a brain fart pass or play it back to the player behind. He is a fcking heathen. But having said all that, surprisingly he plays better when he starts with Herrera, Mata and Carrick in midfield as they can hold on to the ball and allow him some freedom to get forward. If we want to get the best out of Fellaini while he collects a pay packet, he needs to be played with those 3 in midfield.
OK, I didn't see the game but why all the negativity to Fellaini? LVG can obviously see a reason for playing him, and he has played in most of the 6 games in an unbeaten spell. As Oddjob said in Kelly's Heroes "Stop hitting me with those negative waves Moriarty"
Because he gives the opposition the ball. Simple as that. With all our players fit he should not get in the side
Seems I am alone in defending Fellaini. I go along that his performaces last year were well under par, but that could be applied to virtually all of the team. From what I can see so far, is that he is part of a team that has won 6 in a row, so he deserves credit, not constant swiping. We all know that a winning team gets confidence, and likewise confidence potentially gives more wins, and brings back the fear factor to other teams who are playing against United. That fear factor did not exist last year! Nothing gives me greater pleasure than a win over the dippers, so can we see the positive points rather than sniping at one member of the side.
Not sure why people are having a pop at Fellaini, the guy has done really well this season. He's been a key player for us in midfield, he gives the team some much needed muscle and height. The guys having a pop really don't understand football. It's not all about having a side of midget technical players, just watch Arsenal and you'll see why. Even saying that, Fellaini is pretty good technically for a big man
Fellaini is gash. His first half was embarrassing. I think he's pretty thick as well. His yelliw after 5 minutes was plain stupid. The sooner he's gone the better.
He's played his part this season, absolutely, but at the same time it's clear he still has some major deficiencies. To be frank, those that can not see this are the ones who don't understand football. He might yet sort this out and stay in the team and he's the man the others need to oust but as the likes of Di Maria and Blind get back to fitness and the first choice team emerges I expect him to ultimately drop out. If you've got Carrick, Herrera, Di Maria, Blind and Rooney all vying for positions in midfield behind the forwards then Fellaini is up against it. He's still a useful player to have around though.
Hes gash but he was good second half breaking up their play. Hes never going to be a superstar and hes clumsey as **** but van gaals git something out of him for now.
The problem is that I can easily list specific examples from games of why he IS a poor player, why he doesn't do any of the things those who defend him would have you believe. Rather than generic comments like...he's had a good game, he adds steel in midfield, he's a great tackler etc, I've yet to see anyone actually give specific examples in the game that show those qualities. And if they could, I will happily give 3 or 4 where he's been a complete liability or has stunted our attacks time and time again, afraid to make a forward pass or losing the ball when he does. I've listed examples in earlier posts and in earlier matchday threads. LOL today he got booked inside 4 mins for a challenge that he enforced on himself as a result of a poor first touch and losing control of the ball. You need brains as well as muscle and height. Carrick isn't a midget either but proves the difference being highlighted. The irony is that Fellaini, as a player, is at his best NOT in a defensive role as he's often sold to us by those who defend him, but instead as someone who plays with freedom further forward without the need to defend, harrying opposition defenders and winning the occasional header in the box to score or set up someone else. He is pretty much at his best in the final third. IF we actually put out a midfield to enable Fellaini to do that, he may shine as he did against West Brom, Hull and Stoke. This isn't a personal vendetta against the bloke. But hey, what do I know, I really don't understand football
He was good second half breaking up their play. A far more composed performance compared with an awful first half. There you go treble.
Yeh I hear that all the time, another generic comment but no examples UIR. Then ask yourself, how many times did he break up our play??
