If Da costa hadn't gone to ground on his own he would've gone down half a second later when he went over the wafting leg, same with Willian. I thought it should've been a foul tbh. Cahills could have been given as obstruction as the first defender went to impede him and made no move to play the ball but instead stood right in Cahills path, if he hadn't dived he would've clattered into both of them at full pelt.
.....that's the way I saw it as well. I couldn't believe it when Costa got booked and nor could anyone around me.
I don't think Costa's was a dive, he just fell over got up and turned round to a yellow. willians yeah, id say thats a dive, gary cahills, i feel it was a situation where he anticipated the contact and went down. he was moving at full pace with two men in front of him. Its hard for defenders to know when to leave a leg in, but at the same time its hard for attackers to know when they can go down. We're at a point where attackers can 'look' for contact, so this is the result. Its not as easy as saying all divers should get sent off because not all dives are the same. Thats why I feel he didnt get a card.
Simple reaction from me - Cahills drop in form has been dragged out and he has merely shown that in the Hull game again. The diving was embarrassing to be honest. Hes asking to be dropped...
Just watched the game again and agree with you Varier. Cahills' was a dreadful dive as was Willian, and Costa gets the benefit of the doubt. Hate our players diving, and Jose does us no favours by sticking up for them publicly. Hope he gives them a serious bollocking. Cahill is looking weary to me after a pretty good season, and he's making mistakes again.Rotating Azpi and Luis with Ivan as CD occasionally would not hurt, and give JT and Cahill a bit of a breather now and then.
I reckon it would probably send him a message for sure. Put Ivan in there with JT and play Dave & Luis out wide L & R.
Very refreshing to see many of you on here accepting that players dive and condeming it. We all have players that do it at times and should just admit it to others when it`s obvious. Well done to you all, very honest assesments of some dodgy incidents
I think most genuine football fans will condemn diving. I consider it cheating and how can you properly enjoy a win if it isn't earned within the rules? The thing that irks is the vociferous vitriol toward my club from clowns such as Crooks and Gale. Did diving just commence this weekend? We all agree diving is distasteful to say the least and needs to be stamped out but what we don't need is an attack on an individual club when it is happening in all parts. The incidents in the Hull game can be debated until the cows come home but there will only be one winner when it concludes. Stand up Mr Huddlestone, your vicious and career threatening tackle has been virtually overlooked.
saying the same for yearsssss!! Dave + Ivan + JT + Luis is our best back 4!! Even more now that Cahill is completely worn out.
That's what I'll do ........ attempt to justify a career threatening challenge from a coward by showing a still of a genuine attempt to win a tackle. If you consider the two to be anything like similar I highly recommend you go back to watching rugby like most of you were ten years ago.
thank you. I am not alone. Without Cahill going over - he would have been clattered by not 1 but 2 defenders. Definite foul and penalty. But Cahill was not strong enough to put his body on the line. That is the only complain I have. Never a DIVE in million years.
I have read some bullshit in my time We saw Cahill is a cheat and you are now suggesting he is a coward too? Defenders are allowd to go for the ball in the penalty area, you can't possibly know what would have happened if he'd kept going - and nor could he.
It's a shame you didn't pass that information on to your own defence prior to us smashing you lot yet again a couple of weeks back.
