"And Swansea did the double over Spurs last season." - Hartson Hartson's headed the ball too many times, we beat them twice last season and haven't lost against them for ages. Get THFC6061 on the Beeb, he'd get his facts right.
Haven't Swansea lost to us in virtually every game since they came up and not won any of them? Surprising, as they're a good team, but Hartson's time at some of the ****ier clubs in London has clearly muddled his brain.
Or you could look at it this way... Lamela is young and still holds a decent transfer value. Why hold onto a cack player who's suited to a slow style like the Italian league when we can cash in and get someone who will work in our style of play. Lamela doesn't strike me as being a particularly intelligent player. He makes the same mistakes game after game. He won't improve his footballing brain. He's too dense! Soldado is past his best and won't get us much in the bank. If we get another striker who can chip in, the pressure is off Bobby and he might just start to relax and score a few. We have so many players who play in Lamela's position so why keep so much excess? Ship him out and get back some of that hefty price tag otherwise he'll turn into our next Dos Santos!
I was quite happy with the selection as I posted before the match and hey presto. This team still needs time to settle.
Carragher still claiming that Kane dived when it is clear that he caught the defenders shin and tripped. Not a penalty but not a dive either. Usual ant-Spurs bias from an ex-Mouser!!
It's blindingly obvious that he has a problem with us. No idea why, as he used to score enough goals for us when he was a player.
Lamela has had 2 decent games in his Spurs career so far. I don't care if he is 15 or 50 that's just not good enough. He was working hard at times today but generally as NSIS pointed out - running around like a headless chicken. Time is running - if not run - out for him I think, which is a great shame.
Could we entice him out of retirement - could solve our striker problems. I think he has scored more PL goals for us than Bobby S!! Lol
I think that Lamela's been poor for us for the same reason that Eriksen's been erratic. They're both being played in a role that doesn't suit them. We've got wingers, but we prefer to play two players that seem far more at home in the centre in wide roles, instead.
I fear the Argentinian connection may prevent his exit from the team, let alone the club. Please Daniel, sell him in January!
Yeah, I think we drew 1-1 away under Redknapp but yeah, they always give us a good game despite never managing to get the result. I think part of it is down to them always trying to play attacking football, which helps us as it means we're not trying to break down 2 banks of 4 that are going to hit it long to counter which happens in a lot of games. Laudrup made them more savy in that aspect but I had my doubts about Monk and he's proven me totally wrong.
I raised that particular point last week and hope it's not true (that he is biased towards him) - but if Lennon was not injured today then I am afraid it looks that way.
Well done on the points and taking your chances (how the hell we didn't score a hatful is beyond me!) An exciting game especially given the weaner conditions.
