You lost 3-0 and you actually believe all the crap that you've written? That is more worrying than anything else.
- To be honest you didn't look any better than last year. This Liverpool side has gone backwards. We're a complete mess. UTD are playing much better, You had a one wonder season, you are now back to your normal level "top 8"
Won't disagree with the second part unfortunately. But on UTD... I've watched you quite a lot this year and all the same things happened today - very loose passing at the back, don't build sustained pressure, no tempo, reliant on doing something on the break. Amazing that you're 18 for 18 - says something about the PL to be honest. A top side would've pasted you today (and us). Liverpool were dire, embarrassingly so - and its ridiculous we went into today in such a dire situation.
We've played Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Saints and Chelsea recently. I don't know how many you would classify as top sides but none of them pasted us. We won 3, drew 1 and lost the other when we had ten men for 55 minutes. We scored 8 and conceded 4. No pastings.
Well only City and Chelsea qualify for consideration there... in fairness you were better against those two. Liverpool were shocking. Our team selection was shocking. Our lack of options is shocking. Our player recruitment is shocking. These were the main factors today IMO. Look at the chances you still conceded - we have Sturridge or Suarez and it's arguably a different game. Ifs and buts but sadly true. You're not honestly happy with how you're playing?
... would say Di Maria would've seen you completely dominate against us. Our midfield is bypassed by pretty much everyone these days. What's Ronaldo got to do with it? Your problems are all in your defence. Ours are everywhere.
Whats suarez got to do with it. On this seasons showing at barcelona he wouldnt have done **** all either.
The point (an obvious one) is that if we had any sort of cutting edge today would've been very different. We didn't and were punished. This lack of cutting edge comes mainly from the sale of Suarez (he played for us last year - and was quite good) and not replacing him, leaving us with an injury prone Sturridge for goals. For this heads must now roll.
I'm much happier with how we're playing than I was last season and even happier about our league position. If we can keep two centre halves fit for more than 90 minutes then I'll be even happier.
If we had a peak rio and vidic plus two actual fullbacks then what? Ifs, buts, coulda, shoulda.... Didnt.
Fair point on injuries, they have been desperate for you - must be something in training or recovery time? Every reason to be happy about your results!
Do believe I explicitly said 'ifs and buts' earlier but ignore that if you like. The problems with your defence actually emphasise my point by the way. We'd have shredded this side with last season's attack - with any potent attack IMO.
Hard to disagree, we're terrible without Sturridge. We've played well twice this year - away to Spurs and Madrid IMO. Our full side against yours would be interesting. Very depressing we recruited so badly to be left so reliant on one player.
