Tottenham face a fight to sign Leandro Damiao after Internacional president Giovanni Luigi revealed three clubs have made offers for the 21-year-old forward.

Spurs saw a £10.6million bid rejected last month but are understood to have upped their offer to £12m.

Negotiations are continuing between the clubs but Luigi has admitted he would prefer to sell Damiao in January - after the Brazilian season ends.

Luigi said: ‘We currently have three proposals for him - very good proposals.

‘We know that the summer window in Europe values players more highly than in winter.

‘It is important that we negotiate the best price for Damio. But we want to make a deal similar to the one with Sandro, and ensure that Damiao stays until the end of the current Brasileirão campaign. That is very important for our negotiations.’

In other words, agree to the terms and you can have him.

So what's the deal here, if he goes to another club who bid say, £2m more?

We have an affiliation with Internacional, surely this would go very sour if he signs for another club?

Whilst I appreciate they are wanting the best fee for their player, surely they should be entering a bidding war when we are meant to have first dibs?

I also appreciate that they don't want to get r4ped on the price - but they are asking a hell of a lot for an untried (in Europe) kid.

    Exactly, ShelfSide.

What are the terms of our "arrangement" with that club? Do we pay them money to develop new talent? Are we committed over a number of years? Do we have a contractual agreement whereby we get first call on any players they choose to sell?

If our agreement with Internacional is lucrative for them, I cannot imagine that they would want to stiff us over one player. They've already shown that they are prepared to let us have the cream of top talent by selling us Sandro. Perhaps, however, they're now thinking they let Sandro go too cheaply, and they are determined not to let Leandro go the same way?

I'm still hopeful that this is all merely posturing to get more money out of the deal, and that they'll snap Levy's hand off at £15 million.

First option means that if they accept a bid from another club for any of their players, we must be offered the same terms and if we accept then they player can choose between his options. Of course since we already have Sandro he would likely choose us.

    That's the thing.

Surely there's a moral line whereby trying not to bend the club that's affiliated with you over for a few more quid.

Exactly. Although I don't have a copy, and I'm not going to pay the sub to read it on line, The Times is running a story that's the complete opposite, saying Spurs are increasingly confident of landing Leandro. Sombody's got it wrong!

I follow a Spurs news related site on twitter and it posted the link, I would never buy the Daily Fail and don't think the story (like 99.9% of the crap papers print) is true, however I felt it was worthy for us to confer over.

Depends who's got it right, and who's got it wrong? Personally, I'd go with The Times' version. I suspect we're just dancing around with the price and the terms of his departure from Internacional. Not that I've anything in particular against The Fail, except they're a bunch of useless, spurs hating, ****s.

Do we not have first refusal on anyway? So nobody else can have him unless we categorically state that we no longer wish to sign him?

There was talk we'd have the deal sewn up by last Friday, but obviously that's come and gone.

I'm not sure about the price, because a fee of £12m seems to be fair and both sides have agreed, so it must be sorting out a bunch of clauses.
