I don't think that was the case, it was more that he didn't fit into our team. He had to play number 10 to be at his most effective but with Bale making that position his own and then Eriksen arriving after, Gylfi had to play wider or deeper, neither of which suited him. I think we all knew he'd come good if he left and played at another club, shame he couldn't do it with us but these things happen.

If you cant use a players' best qualities , why buy him in the first place? This is part and parcel of the problem .Know the type of team game you want to play then find the players accordingly .One of the biggest errors in football these days is spending big on players and then ask them to not do what they do best by playing them out of position

I am pleased Siggy's move to Swansea is working out for him. He's a good footballer and although it never really took off for him at Spurs, he never let his head drop and never complained. A good pro with a good work ethic.

Lloris, Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Bentaleb, Mason; Eriksen, Kane, Lamela; Soldado

Subs - Vorm, Chiriches, Rose, Chadli, Dembele, Stambouli, Townsend.

No Lennon - my brain hurts

Well at the time we played VDV in that role and didn't have any real backup which caused us problems as VDV was injury prone and usually ran out of energy in the last half an hour of a game. I think that's the situation when the idea of signing him was around, at least. AVB came in and used Bale more and more in the middle, these things happen.

Some players adapt to new positions/res[ponsibilities well, it's always a judgement call. Look at Fabregas at Barcelona, no one doubted he'd fit straight in for them but it never happened and he left having underperformed massively. I understand it's furstrating when someone nicks your player and it never really works out for them, happened to us with Berbatov, Keane and Sheringham, luckily for you guys you've got him back and he's not wasted anytime getting back into the swing of things.

Might well be injured. Brilliant to see Walker back, just hope he makes it through the game okay. Another injury now would be a huge blow.

'Erik Lamela' mine hurts even more, just what has he done to justify a first team place
Stick Kane up front, drop sold-a-dud, play eriksen behind Kane and stick townsend on the left and chadli on the right, simple

I don't like omens, Brendan lost 3-0 today and we play his old team. Actually I'm quite happy with the selection.

Are we allowed to score, a) early and b) from a corner?

Anyway, any win will do me today, it doesn't have to be 0-3.

We're getting pushed onto the back foot all the time now. Bony being given far too much space - looks only a matter of time before he scores.
