The line about "now"??? It's more unbelievable that you take a tone of criticism about Fonte at all. He has been a rock. I'd even say that he was excellent against Utd apart from one pass. You stated that you couldn't believe that "you guys" were waxing lyrical about him and chose to say he wasn't excellent now because of one performance... That is the toughest critiquing and in my view, narrow minded and "unbelievable" If Messi doesn't play great today, is he suddenly not excellent right now?
I think Fonte's error against ManU and Tadic's missed penalty are just the sort of things that happen when your confidence is dented...not gone, just not what it was. We were winning games without playing terrifically, but now we are losing or drawing those games. We will turn a corner...let's hope it starts tomorrow.
I reread my comment to see if there was some ambiguity or it's you reading something from it that isn't there, turns out it's you. I don't think Fonte's suddenly become a bad player (I said as much), but it's a little hard to swallow the adoration after we've just lost to Burnley.
So, a thread about an ex defender not doing great and posters saying maybe was made to look good by Fonte who has had a great season, needed a comment that questioned his current level.... and after one not great game. You really saying there isn't a negative vibe there? If not, why post it? If as you say it is just difficult to stomach that people are saying Fonte has been excellent as its after we've lost to Burnley, then best you look away or try to see a bigger picture. Take your post in context and it has a negative vibe. This is why I had a pop. Some people obviously are capable of seeing that bigger picture on a topic that ended up comparing him and Lovren.
