‘The problem with Keane is that he demands the same standards that he was used to at United and the lads at Villa don’t get paid enough to put up with that kind of c**p.

Give me a break FFS. How anyone can put up with the antics of the modern day footballer is beyond me. The game is turning toxic at a rate of knots. Who the fcuk do these guys think they are. No respect for anything or anyone.

"Keane is also understood to have laid into the team when Lambert kept them in the dressing room for an hour after a 2-0 defeat at QPR in October."

I agree with you Kerry. Footballer's today are so mollycoddled its beyond belief.

However, the fact is that you have to treat them with kid gloves nowadays and having a loose cannon like Keane around simply doesn't work. His antics are doing damage to the Irish national team and IMO O'Neill made a mistake bringing him in. Every time a game rolls around it becomes the Roy Keane show and that can't be helping the setup. Time for O'Neill to get rid.

Keane has a screw loose. I'm convinced of that. Just look at the photo in the link. He looks like the Bull McCabe FFS

I have no opinion on Keane, prefer to leave that to Alf Inge Haaland

    Enough said...

Keane isnt a manger...he was a bully who met his match in Vierra and the bottle..
    Sad excuse for a man.

Not sure why an modern footballer would respect him. yeah he has a **** load of medals....and.....a complete tosser in every aspect of the word and the game is better without his type.

But then again, at some time in the near future some half-baked Chairman will appoint him as Manager because of who he is rather than what he does. It never ceases to amaze me that managers who get sacked having been dire in every aspect then get appointed at another club despite their obvious failings.

In football management the sack is simply an occupational hazard and a way of obtaining a very large wad of cash for being a total failure, if only every job was the same...

I think that he has unquestionably high standards and is too rigid in his application of these.

That said, I find one statement from the article - that Swords Hoopster provided a link to - intriguing.

‘The problem with Keane is that he demands the same standards that he was used to at United and the lads at Villa don’t get paid enough to put up with that kind of crap. He just got everybody down.’

That suggests that there's an accepted ambivalence towards hard work on the premise that the top teams are paying £100k+ per week rather than a paltry £25k-£60k that most other EPL players enjoy.

I can understand Roy Keane seeking to call the players out if this was the prevalent attitude.

And as for Charles N'Zogbia taking offence at the Keane's 'parent-child' approach to coaching; he's hardly the most hardy of characters, having threatened to strike over Joe Kinnear's botched interview when he slurred his name pronouncing this so it sounded like Charles Insomnia.

Roy Keane has his faults, for sure; but this article seems tantamount to a smear campaign looking to discredit him, offering very little in terms of a balanced opinion.

Kerry, answer me honestly. Would you want him as a coach at QPR?

No but I would have loved to have him as a player. I admire that winning mentality, the drive and determination. I like bad losers. It has got to hurt when you lose. It can't be just about picking up a wage.
